[0.0s] Welcome to Dumbgeons and Dragons. [3.3s] We are a fifth edition actual play podcast [5.9s] and I am your dungeon master, Rust More. [7.9s] And with me today is Amy More. [11.2s] Yes, I am here. [13.6s] And I also play Thea Amastasia. [17.6s] And this was a little weird. [20.0s] Nailing it, nailing it, nailing it. [21.8s] Every time, all the time. [23.8s] I'm gonna stop you there. [24.9s] Stop, stop, stop you there. [26.2s] And Carla Johnson is also with us. [28.8s] Hey, I am also here. [30.8s] Make it awkward, make it awkward, make it awkward. [33.6s] I play Nulara Moonbrook. [34.8s] Thank you. [35.6s] And Tom Laird. [37.2s] Yeah, that's me as well. [40.1s] Maybe, yes, definitely. [42.4s] Yes, that is the one. [44.6s] And I play Flint Firebeard. [46.6s] Hi guys. [47.4s] Hey. How you doing? [48.3s] Hi, Ira. [49.1s] You're doing super awkward today. [50.3s] Hey, question. [52.5s] You know, when you were in elementary school [55.2s] and the teacher used to take a role [57.2s] and you would get like kind of nervous [58.7s] before it was your turn to say here. [60.7s] That's exactly how I feel every time. [64.5s] Because we never know whose name Russ is gonna say first. [67.3s] So you have to be like ready. [69.5s] You have to be ready for it. [70.8s] I always had teachers do it alphabetically. [72.7s] So I was, I felt prepared. [75.1s] I knew, you know, after so-and-so Gilroy. [80.3s] Yeah, you'd be up. [81.8s] Yeah, me too. [82.8s] I guess I met more that like, I don't know, [85.7s] that like awkward anticipation of having to like say here. [89.4s] Yeah, how am I gonna say it today? [90.7s] Present. [91.6s] Present, exactly. [94.9s] That's just what I'm gonna say next time. [96.8s] Present, present accounted for. [99.4s] Accounted for. [102.8s] Well, I'm sorry to stress you guys out so much. [106.1s] No, it's fun. [106.9s] I love it. [109.7s] Today, we're gonna talk some mechanics [113.8s] and some level ups because we haven't done that in a while. [116.4s] We've really delved into our character sheets [120.1s] and see what we got going on there [122.9s] and remember what we have going on there [124.9s] and how to use it. [126.3s] Pure mystery. [127.5s] So we're gonna do that for the first little bit [130.1s] because we got two levels for everybody to go up [132.9s] and then also a whole bunch of stuff [134.5s] for maybe some stuff on their character sheets [136.2s] that we'll go over and just make sure [137.4s] everybody knows what's going on [138.6s] and how they can D&D the best. [143.9s] That they can. [146.0s] To the best of our ability. [147.3s] That's right. [148.1s] Which is like a three out of 10? [150.0s] Yeah, that's pretty close. [152.3s] Five at least. [154.0s] Oh, good. [154.9s] That's good confidence, Amy. [155.9s] I like it. [157.7s] We also just wanna, what month is it? [161.5s] It's still June, which is women in tabletop gaming month. [166.3s] Yes, bonus Epps. [168.0s] Bonus episode. [168.9s] Last week was Amy's episode. [170.6s] Hopefully you enjoyed that. [172.3s] And next week. [173.7s] Is Carla's episode. [175.4s] Double yes. [176.3s] Yes, Carla. [177.7s] Did you just boo? [178.9s] Don't boo your episode. [181.1s] They're both great. [182.0s] That's real fun, you guys are real fun. [182.9s] I sang on your episode. [184.6s] Yeah, you did a lot of that. [186.5s] Spoiler alert for my episode. [189.1s] It's amazing. [190.4s] It's pretty spectacular. [191.3s] And you guys. [192.7s] I mean, if you thought Amy's episode was great. [194.7s] It's true, Carla's is even better [196.7s] because I didn't DM it. [199.5s] Be astounded as Russ and I [201.3s] play identical looking characters. [204.0s] Amy plays a teenage boy. [206.7s] It's very fun. [207.6s] It's great fun. [208.9s] We won't give it all away though, no spoilers. [210.7s] So tune in next week to find out how that wraps up. [215.2s] And also if you're joining us for kind of the first time [220.0s] because it was women in tabletop gaming month. [222.2s] I mean, this is a bit of an off weird episode [225.1s] because we're going into our characters. [225.9s] Who are you? [226.8s] What are you doing here? [227.6s] How did you find us? [228.5s] That's what I wanna ask. [230.0s] Women in tabletop gaming.com [231.9s] is probably how they found us. [233.3s] Okay, all right, yeah. [234.9s] Which thank you for joining us. [236.2s] But also if you like what we have going on [238.3s] and maybe you've joined us now or earlier, [240.8s] we're on Patreon, Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [245.2s] And each episode or whenever we remember to do it, [249.7s] a lucky patron gets an episode dedicated to them. [254.1s] Like today is Joshua Dixon. [257.3s] Joshua Dixon. [258.2s] Joshua. [259.0s] Thank you, Joshua. [260.8s] You get the shit storm. [261.6s] This is yours. [263.8s] This is all yours. [265.4s] So lucky. [266.2s] Yeah, take it for what you've been holding out for. [271.1s] It's very good. [271.9s] Do you like it when we talk about mechanics? [273.9s] I hope so. [275.0s] This is your episode. [276.7s] I'd like to know how, you know, like engines work. [285.2s] I like the amount of silence for a company that. [287.6s] Maybe maybe we could rebrand [289.7s] to like a popular mechanics for kids. [292.6s] If that's never been taken. [295.1s] I like that. [295.9s] Perfect. [296.7s] Yep. [297.6s] All right. [298.4s] First up, can opener. [299.3s] Welcome to popular mechanics for kids. [302.3s] We're not gonna, no. [303.5s] No. [304.4s] It's not gonna work. [305.2s] It doesn't feel right. [306.2s] Do you guys know how anything works well enough [308.1s] that you could explain it? [309.0s] No. [310.0s] Although I know that both Alicia Cuthbert [312.6s] and Jay Baruchel have like astounding careers [315.3s] after being on that show as kids. [317.7s] That's true. [319.2s] So you think it would be a good stepping stone for us. [321.5s] I definitely think so. [322.9s] There's only one way to go from here. [325.5s] Right? [326.6s] Up. [327.9s] Yes. [328.7s] Up. [329.5s] In the upsy lifty machine. [330.4s] In the upsy downsy machine. [331.7s] The upsy downsy machine. [334.7s] Listen to the return to the guild episode [336.8s] if you don't get that. [337.6s] That's a deep cut going back two episodes. [341.7s] That's a real deep cut. [343.2s] Real deep cut. [345.4s] I have to say before we get started, [349.1s] there was a couple people that left reviews [351.5s] for us on our Facebook page [353.1s] and they totally made my fucking day. [355.8s] So thank you so much. [356.7s] I got to answer one before Russ did. [359.7s] I typed it and as he was typing, [361.7s] I was like, oh no. [365.0s] I'm gonna say thank you first. [367.4s] And I did. [368.2s] I mean, that's great. [369.1s] And then I texted Russ and I was like, [370.2s] ma-ha-ha, beat you to it. [371.9s] I love it. [374.2s] Work's been real busy. [375.7s] You guys, work's been real busy. [378.1s] Real busy. [378.9s] And back to Patreon. [381.9s] If you're on Patreon, [383.0s] you just heard the finale a few days ago [385.9s] of our current arc that we had going on, [388.6s] which Tom DM'd and it was a fabulous wrap up. [391.5s] It was so fun. [392.4s] Super awesome. [393.2s] So that is up there. [394.1s] You can binge right on through that 11 episodes [397.0s] and then next month, [398.3s] we are starting up a new campaign. [402.8s] With the new system, [403.7s] we're rolling with Fatecore [404.5s] and we can't even really get into it right now [407.5s] because of how secretive it is. [409.7s] Because we don't know. [411.7s] That's why we can't get into it. [413.5s] It's the biggest secret of all. [414.7s] It's so secret. [415.5s] We barely know. [416.3s] That's right. [417.2s] But we'll be diving into a session zero [419.5s] and find out how Fatecore works [421.0s] and how we can set up the game. [422.3s] And then we're gonna be jumping into that new story. [425.0s] So now's a great time to join us on that community, [428.7s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [431.5s] A fun game for our Patreon listeners [433.8s] is listen through the 11 episodes [436.3s] and try to find the fight where I totally fucked up [438.7s] and made it way too hard for everyone. [442.2s] Spoiler alert, you're gonna find it right away. [444.2s] Yeah, it's really easy to find. [446.2s] Yeah. [447.6s] When it rolls into hour six of the episode, [450.0s] you'll realize. Oh my God. [450.9s] It was so tragic. [454.1s] It was fun. [454.9s] We had a great time. [455.7s] It was a very fun arc. [457.1s] Excellent. [457.9s] Pop Culture Wars is a great supporter [461.0s] of Dumbgeons and Dragons as well. [463.7s] And they're fantastic. [466.0s] All the guys and girls over there, [468.3s] popculturewars.com, [469.4s] they sell pop culture merchandise. [471.9s] T-shirts, hoodies, leggings, [474.0s] all from the latest. [475.1s] And that is wars with a Z or a Z. [477.6s] Z or a Z, yes, sorry. [478.8s] popculturewarswithazetoraz.com. [482.3s] They're a small online company, [484.1s] but they wanna make sure that they do the best for you [487.2s] and give you high quality materials. [489.5s] So go check them out to get all the latest T-shirts [492.2s] from like Deadpool and Rick and Morty and Star Wars. [495.8s] If you go see, you know, go see, [497.6s] I don't wanna shout out movies. [500.2s] They don't need our help. [501.0s] They don't need our help. [502.0s] Can I slam a movie real quickly? [505.1s] Yes. [506.1s] Yeah, go. [506.9s] Yeah, sure. [508.0s] Deadpool 2, not as good as the original. [510.3s] Boom, you've been slammed. [513.8s] This is what's stuck in my mind right now. [514.6s] See, our sponsor really likes Deadpool though, [516.3s] so that's my gig cut. [517.8s] Hey, the T-shirts on popculturewars are like, [520.3s] I shouldn't just say the T-shirts, [521.5s] like the merch you can get with their designs on it [525.1s] are great and a delight. [527.2s] They're adorable. [528.1s] Yeah. [528.9s] Yeah, all of them are either like cute [532.5s] or cute slash like gross or cute and offensive. [536.5s] Cute and disturbing. [538.4s] Yeah, it's very, it's great. [542.3s] When you said a Z or a Z, [544.0s] now I think that should be like a monster [547.5s] that we fight and it's called a Z or a Z. [550.0s] Oh, I like that. [551.1s] And then now it's stuck in my head, [552.3s] so if someone can create a monster. [555.0s] Ty, we're looking at you. [556.9s] Ty, that's right, my man. [558.4s] A Z or a Z. [560.9s] It's in there and it won't come out, a Z or a Z. [563.1s] Popculturewars.com. [565.2s] With a Z or a Z. [566.1s] With a Z or a Z. [566.9s] When you get over there, [567.7s] use the promo code DumbDragon, [569.0s] get yourself 10% off. [570.8s] And they also have free shipping [572.7s] to Canada, the US, Australia, New ZeAlydind, and the UK. [577.7s] It's pretty great. [579.1s] Pretty great. [580.5s] Fuck it, guys, let's talk characters and shit. [583.4s] Woo, that's totally what we usually say. [586.2s] So catchy. [587.3s] Such a catchy catchphrase. [588.5s] I can see why we say it. [589.6s] We're not playing D&D. [590.4s] We're not really playing right this moment. [593.1s] Yeah, makes sense. [594.6s] Tune into. [595.5s] Playing means you're gonna have fun. [596.9s] This is serious business. [598.9s] If you like mechanics, you stick around. [600.5s] If you like gameplay, [602.1s] tune to insert time here later, Russ. [607.5s] And you can skip ahead. [608.9s] Or if you also just like to listen to us banter [612.8s] and be off topic, stick around [614.9s] because that's gonna happen. [617.2s] This is where what we're actually good at, [619.5s] bullshitting and loving each other as friends. [621.8s] This is where it's gonna really shine. [624.3s] This is a great time to jump on board. [625.1s] And if you want to hear how boring it is [626.8s] to level up a champion fighter, [628.4s] you just wait, it's coming. [630.6s] It's coming real fast. [633.6s] I bet Tom got stronger. [635.7s] Maybe. [636.8s] Perhaps. [638.5s] Spoiler alert. [639.4s] No, he did not. [640.4s] In fact, once you hit level 12, [641.9s] they start taking things away. [643.5s] No. [644.4s] To make it more challenging. [645.9s] I like it. [646.7s] Well, because you're getting older too, right? [649.0s] Like as time goes on. [650.2s] Older, wiser. [651.2s] He's at least three weeks older [653.3s] since you guys started playing in game time. [655.1s] Holy shit, hold on. [655.9s] Level 12, I'm reading here. [656.9s] First gray hair in beard appears. [660.1s] No. [661.3s] Level 16 is in the pubes. [664.1s] I thought that's what Amy was gonna say to be totally honest. [668.1s] You know what? [669.5s] I'm ashamed that I didn't go there. [671.7s] Yeah, I assumed as soon as you said first gray hair [675.3s] that it was gonna be self-improveable. [677.9s] Puberty. [678.7s] Yeah. [682.1s] What a cruel world would that be [684.0s] that your first gray hair at all is in your pubes? [689.7s] It would not be motivating. [692.2s] Wouldn't that be horrific? [695.8s] You'd be like, well, it's all fucking done now, isn't it? [702.1s] Yep. [702.9s] See, we stay on topic. [703.8s] Yeah, totally on topic. [705.2s] It's gonna be great. [706.2s] So what we're gonna do is [709.5s] we're gonna level everybody up [712.2s] and then we're gonna talk character sheets [713.9s] because there's some unearthed arcana stuff [715.6s] that Carla's character knew Laura has to do [719.9s] to make her, you know. [721.8s] More interesting? [722.7s] More awesome. [723.5s] More interesting. [724.5s] Not more interesting. [725.8s] Not Carla more. [726.6s] Kind of thing. [727.5s] Kind of Laura's character. [731.5s] So the other thing we can do [733.6s] is just kind of touch on your, [736.6s] I guess the goals that you have been doing and, [739.3s] you know. [740.7s] Just a little debrief. [742.1s] A little debrief. [742.9s] I think we should all roll a dice [744.3s] and the highest person does theirs first. [747.9s] Oh, that's a good idea. [748.9s] D20? [749.7s] Yeah, D20. [751.3s] I was only gonna roll a D4 [752.6s] so my options were very limited. [755.7s] I got an 11. [757.2s] I got an 11. [758.0s] I think Tom said that as well. [759.3s] I did. [760.1s] I did. [761.0s] I got an 11. [761.8s] Add your initiative modifier. [763.4s] Oh, I got an 18. [765.3s] 13. [768.1s] Nope, 12. [768.9s] I think Amy's gonna go first. [769.8s] Cause I haven't leveled up yet. [770.6s] Oh no, Carla has like a plus 10 in initiative, [772.3s] I think. [773.1s] Well plus eight. [773.9s] So I have a 19. [774.9s] Ooh, Carla goes first. [776.7s] Yeah. [777.8s] Well, if I can buckle up [779.4s] cause mine is the most extensive. [781.5s] So ready. [783.8s] Okay. [784.9s] So Rangers, fun fact. [789.5s] Everyone hates them. [792.7s] Okay, they get a bad- [793.5s] Not in game. [794.4s] Okay. [795.2s] So I guess Wizards of the Coast [798.3s] got the most complaints [800.2s] about Rangers not being bAlydinced enough characters. [803.4s] So, cause they're not like, [805.9s] as good at fighting, [807.3s] they're just like underpowered [809.8s] compared to everyone else. [811.2s] They're a jack of all trades, [812.7s] but master of none. [814.1s] Yeah. [814.9s] And not in the fun, [815.8s] jack of all trades, [816.6s] actual D&D way, [817.7s] but in the like, [819.3s] kind of visual, [820.1s] take normal vernacular way. [821.8s] But in the player's handbook, [823.0s] it was just poorly executed [825.1s] compared to all the other classes, [826.7s] I think is what it was. [827.5s] Yes. [828.5s] Yes. [829.4s] So a bunch of stuff has changed for me. [832.8s] I'll just give you like the, [836.9s] the quick version, [838.1s] like it's all a lot more involved in that, [840.5s] but, [841.3s] and then, [843.7s] tease, [844.5s] we're gonna need to have a pretty serious conversation [846.5s] about Donnie. [848.5s] Oh, dang. [849.5s] Oh. [850.6s] I already know what I wanna do, [852.3s] but it also is really up to Russ [854.1s] what I can do. [855.0s] I don't have money for this. [855.8s] So, [857.3s] so I now have, [861.0s] I get plus two damage [863.3s] to any successful weapon attack. [864.9s] I have advantage on initiative roles [867.8s] and in the first turn of combat, [869.8s] I have advantage on attacks against creatures [872.3s] who haven't gone yet. [874.1s] Which works really well with your high initiative [876.9s] because you wanna be first. [878.0s] Yeah, I wanna be first [879.1s] and then I can, [881.0s] yeah, I have advantage against people [882.5s] attacking me afterwards. [883.8s] So that's good. [884.6s] Cause I'm not super strong. [885.8s] Like Tom is now gonna be like, [888.9s] I don't know, [889.8s] real fucking strong. [890.6s] So that was my good, [893.7s] good language that I use there. [897.3s] Let's see my, [900.3s] things have changed as well for [904.2s] my favored enemies [906.1s] in a few different ways. [907.5s] So I got to pick favored enemies [909.6s] at like certain points [910.8s] and that gave me like sort of advantage. [913.9s] I think advantage on roles against them. [915.5s] I've already changed this, [916.4s] but it was like nothing special. [918.4s] But now my favored enemies, [920.0s] I get plus four weapon damage against [923.5s] orcs and gnolls. [924.8s] And then I have a greater favored enemy [927.2s] whereas they were all lumped together before, [929.2s] which is dragon. [932.3s] And so I get plus four weapon damage [934.3s] plus advantage on saving throws [936.2s] against their spells and abilities. [939.1s] I was hoping you'd switch it to sheep. [943.4s] My favored enemy is the sheep. [945.4s] I hate those motherfuckers. [946.7s] I also, it seems like [949.3s] I was cherry picking that, [950.7s] but I did already have dragons [951.9s] as a favored enemy from like [953.5s] whenever last time I got to pick one, [954.9s] like level six or something. [955.7s] But it didn't really do much for you. [957.2s] Yeah, it didn't do really anything. [959.0s] It was on skill checks based on like information. [960.9s] Information about dragons. [962.5s] And it's like, oh, that helps me in a battle. [964.1s] Exactly. [965.0s] I know your favorite color. [966.8s] Exactly. [967.6s] I knew history about them, [969.3s] which like, yeah. [970.9s] So that ties in also to my primeval awareness. [974.8s] What it used to be is like my favored enemies. [978.1s] I would know if there were some [980.8s] within a mile, [983.0s] but not how many there were or where they were. [985.5s] So it was basically useless, right? [987.9s] Like, it was like, [989.4s] oh, we're going to hunt a dragon somewhere. [991.5s] And then, oh, yep, there is one, you know. [994.2s] There's one somewhere in the world. [996.6s] But now it's much better. [998.7s] Now I can tell within five miles, [1001.9s] which of my favorite enemies are present, [1003.8s] how many, the general direction they're in [1006.4s] and how many miles from us there are. [1009.4s] And if there are multiple groups of them, [1011.3s] I can learn that about all of them. [1014.0s] Ooh. Oh, dang. [1014.9s] So it is actually like very good. [1020.3s] You Lara got smart, yo. [1021.9s] Yeah, yeah. [1022.7s] It actually like is better. [1025.9s] And hide in plain sight was something [1029.1s] that I think I got at like level nine or something, [1031.2s] but it used to be that it was like a plus 10 [1036.3s] to stealth basically. [1037.9s] But now if, and that was if I didn't move at all, [1042.8s] I had to like camouflage myself and then not move. [1045.5s] And I got a plus 10 to stealth. [1047.7s] But now if I, I don't have to camouflage myself [1051.1s] and if I don't move, they get, [1054.5s] like if they're doing perception, [1056.2s] like they're trying to see me, [1057.4s] they take a minus 10 to their perception. [1061.7s] So if I move or fall prone, [1065.0s] I lose that obviously, [1067.0s] because then they can see me. [1068.6s] But in theory, I could like still cast spells [1073.5s] that don't require movement and stuff [1075.2s] and they wouldn't be able to see me. [1078.9s] Okay, so the other big change. [1083.0s] Oh, I also have fleet of foot now, [1084.7s] which means I can dash as a bonus action on my turn. [1089.9s] I think that's kind of it. [1092.2s] Except here's where we're gonna need [1095.6s] to have a group conversation or Russ is actually the DM [1098.5s] so he gets to decide what I'm gonna do. [1100.8s] So in the player's handbook, [1105.2s] what would happen at 12th level [1107.5s] is that my animal companion, Donnie, [1112.2s] would get a second attack, [1115.7s] but they've changed it in the Unearthed Arcana stuff [1119.1s] and your animal companion is actually now [1122.6s] a way fucking bigger, tougher animal, [1127.5s] like way bigger. [1130.7s] I don't have it open. [1131.7s] How big is it? [1132.7s] Like a medium sized creature, basically. [1135.4s] Oh, wow. [1136.3s] The mystic gives is an ape, a black bear, a boar, [1138.7s] a giant badger, a giant weasel, a mule, [1141.1s] a panther or a wolf. [1142.7s] Yeah, and they get- [1144.2s] You could have T'Challa with you? [1145.9s] So they get their stuff all stacks as well. [1150.3s] Like in the player's handbook version, [1152.2s] like Donnie still had like seven hit points, right? [1154.3s] Like he was nothing because he's just a little [1157.4s] pseudo dragon and that was it. [1161.5s] I'm wondering, like what I would like to do [1164.4s] is not give up Donnie [1166.2s] because he has been around the whole time, [1168.9s] like since before we even started. [1172.4s] And he's got those sweet hats. [1174.9s] Yeah, those hats. [1176.0s] He does have an amazing accent, [1177.5s] which I feel like has maybe never been in the podcast. [1180.1s] I don't know, it's been an awfully long time. [1182.2s] It has been a couple times. [1183.1s] Just recently when we're like, [1184.6s] what does, how would Donnie say that? [1187.5s] He fucking packed a kind of yard butter. [1189.9s] Oh yes, I recall now. [1191.0s] That's all like trying to do, trying to do it. [1194.5s] But what I would like to do is [1198.1s] kind of find the middle ground of those two things. [1200.1s] So maybe let him keep that second attack [1202.6s] because his attack still is like not much. [1204.5s] He's just like a little dude, [1206.0s] but you did also, he did just get his like collar [1210.1s] that gives him like the ability to transform [1212.8s] into that gold dragon, [1215.8s] Wormling. Wormlings. [1217.5s] So it'd be cool to keep him, [1219.5s] but I did like upgrade his stats [1223.2s] based on the way the stats upgraded [1226.1s] if I had the bigger creature. [1227.6s] So, you know, he has more hit points now [1230.1s] and he just is tougher. [1232.1s] And there are a few other like mechanics [1234.6s] on how he reacts to me and what that all means. [1238.0s] Cause in theory, if I had started with this bigger creature, [1241.9s] like by this level, [1243.2s] it'd be like a fucking ferocious killing machine basically. [1247.4s] Which Donnie is not, [1249.3s] although he did like put a spider to sleep and stuff. [1252.7s] He's had some successes. [1254.4s] He's been fine. [1256.6s] But yeah, I don't know how you feel about that, Russ. [1258.6s] Like I'd be sad to get rid of him now, [1261.3s] but maybe we can still make him, you know, [1265.3s] tougher and stronger, [1266.3s] but he obviously won't be as strong. [1270.1s] So still let him have that second attack. [1272.9s] Yeah. So, I mean, giving him the collar [1277.1s] was kind of my help for him [1281.1s] to make him tougher and stronger [1282.8s] because you're right. [1283.6s] He should have been leveling up [1286.6s] or you should have, in theory, [1288.1s] picked somebody, something different to start, right? [1290.9s] Whatever, it doesn't matter. [1292.8s] But yeah, Donnie's been with the party [1294.6s] since the beginning, [1295.7s] when we started playing three years ago. [1299.1s] So long ago. [1300.0s] Yeah, can't get rid of him now. [1301.3s] So yeah, no, I'm not gonna be like, [1303.1s] yeah, get rid of Donnie. [1305.2s] If you said, well, I wanna get rid of Donnie [1307.6s] or work Donnie out of the story in some way, [1309.5s] then we could do that. [1310.4s] But I don't think that's what you wanna do. [1312.5s] Well, we like take him to a farm upstate [1314.6s] so he has tons of room to roam around. [1316.6s] I mean, it makes sense. [1318.2s] He's from Brooklyn. [1321.5s] He wants to go start his own auto mechanic. [1323.4s] Yeah. [1325.4s] So I guess what I can do or we can do together [1331.3s] is look at the gold dragon Wyrmling [1334.7s] because I also looked at the collar [1335.9s] that I gave him again. [1337.0s] And it is like a permanent effect. [1340.5s] It's supposed to be a permanent effect, [1342.0s] not like a choice thing. [1343.7s] Oh, okay. [1344.6s] So he puts it on and he's supposed [1346.1s] to be now a gold dragon Wyrmling [1350.3s] until it comes off in one way, shape or form. [1353.7s] So we can do it either way [1355.7s] because we said in the episode that it's like he chooses [1360.4s] or you choose and he just turns into it. [1363.3s] But in theory, what it's supposed to be [1365.4s] is the collar goes on and then he magically transforms [1368.5s] into this gold dragon Wyrmling and he is that now [1371.4s] until that gets damaged or negated [1375.1s] or anything in one way, shape or form. [1377.3s] Well, and he would thusly have the hit points [1379.7s] and the awesomeness. [1381.2s] Yeah, do you, Russ, can you send me the stats for that? [1386.9s] And then I can kind of look and see [1388.6s] if what makes the most sense [1391.4s] and then we can just talk about that, [1392.9s] you know, not right now. [1394.7s] Cause that would probably make him more [1396.4s] like those other creatures that he could have been. [1398.5s] And then we can kind of find a like middle ground. [1401.2s] It's like a happy medium [1402.7s] where you don't have to get rid of Donnie [1404.0s] but he can also be more helpful for the party. [1408.5s] I think compared to like compared to a wolf, [1411.5s] he's going to be more powerful as a gold dragon Wyrmling. [1415.1s] But depending on how the wolf would have scaled up [1418.1s] from when you first got it [1419.8s] to how it should be when you're level 12, [1422.3s] that might determine something different. [1423.8s] But yeah, we'll still include all like, [1425.6s] cause at level five, you know, [1427.2s] you should have like coordinated attack [1429.2s] where you fight as a team, [1431.5s] beast defense. [1434.3s] So while it can see you, [1435.3s] it has advantage in all saving throws, [1437.5s] storm claws and fangs. [1439.3s] Like it gets a bonus. [1441.9s] I think we should be marrying these two. [1443.9s] Yeah. [1444.8s] Donnie and the skills of. [1446.3s] No, yeah, that's totally it. [1448.4s] This isn't my character, I don't know. [1450.0s] Well, no, but. [1450.9s] It affects all of us, right? [1453.8s] Like it's so. [1455.1s] Well, and Donnie's a part of the team. [1456.9s] Exactly. [1457.7s] But he should, you know what? [1458.6s] It's not fair that he hasn't developed [1460.7s] any sort of abilities going on [1464.2s] in the matter of time we've all been together. [1467.2s] So you can understand why people like [1468.9s] with Wizards of the Coast would have [1470.9s] like kind of complained about it [1472.3s] because like when I chose him, [1474.6s] he was, you know, one of. [1476.9s] Cool, and cute. [1477.7s] That's the kind of creature that you got, right? [1479.1s] Like it was basically like a little pet [1481.1s] is what you got. [1481.9s] Based on challenge rating and that's what you got. [1484.1s] And you picked it [1484.9s] cause it was a cute little dragon guy. [1486.5s] That could read your thoughts and send you images. [1488.9s] I mean, come on. [1489.7s] It's a good scout for an early level adventurer. [1492.9s] For sure. [1493.8s] For sure. [1494.6s] So that actually is probably, oh no. [1497.3s] I guess I had some other like normal stuff [1500.2s] that isn't the Unearthed Arcana stuff. [1502.1s] So I got one more spell. [1505.1s] I've got some like ability score improvements, [1507.3s] you know, like normal stuff. [1510.5s] And yeah, that's kind of about it. [1513.1s] It's the Unearthed Arcana stuff [1514.5s] is like the big changes for me. [1517.0s] So I should in theory be more helpful now. [1520.5s] You've always been really helpful. [1521.7s] Did you get more hit points too? [1523.7s] Cause don't forget those. [1524.7s] Yep, I got more hit points and I have, [1529.4s] I still have no charisma. [1531.7s] Shocking. [1534.1s] But everything else is a bit better [1537.4s] cause we did two levels, right? [1538.7s] So I. Yeah. [1541.9s] Wait. [1542.7s] Yeah, and the reason we, sorry, [1543.6s] the reason we did two levels for people listening [1545.8s] is the way Rise of Tiamat works is it's milestone. [1549.6s] So I mean, early on we did XP to gear everybody up, [1553.3s] but I switched to milestone [1554.2s] just cause it was easier to track. [1556.1s] And as Tom, Carla and Amy finished an art [1560.9s] or finished a storyline, it's like, okay, [1563.9s] well you beat this thing or you finish this thing, [1566.6s] you get a level. [1567.4s] It was just easier to kind of go. [1568.9s] And we, the way we've been playing [1571.1s] is we've been working towards [1572.7s] the Dragon Council episode, [1573.8s] which came out first this month for quite a while. [1578.8s] And that was one of the milestone pieces, [1582.9s] but also the Cuth battle was another milestone piece. [1587.0s] So we were working towards the Dragon Council thing, [1589.7s] which they had, we had already played through [1591.5s] and recorded and then the Cuth stuff. [1594.2s] And then it didn't make sense to just do one [1596.6s] right after the other. [1597.7s] So we just held onto them until this point. [1599.9s] So that, you know, [1601.2s] because we knew that it didn't make a difference [1603.7s] cause we had already recorded it, [1606.0s] we just left it until now. [1607.7s] Not that we would have needed any of the skills. [1611.5s] Yeah. [1612.4s] Really in a conversation. [1614.4s] Yeah. [1615.2s] That's a good point Amy. [1616.1s] Yeah, yeah. [1617.6s] Besides this way it's more exciting. [1619.2s] It's like a whole bunch of like fun stuff. [1620.9s] Get a huge buff going into kind of, [1623.3s] and we're going into like the third act of this story. [1627.9s] So things are gonna get tougher for everybody. [1630.3s] Things are gonna get more serious [1632.5s] and a little more dark. [1633.9s] And so it's good. [1635.7s] It's like we're coming to the end of a semester. [1637.5s] All right, you guys up until this point, [1639.0s] it's been a cakewalk. [1640.1s] Now the quizzes are gonna be harder. [1642.1s] The tests are gonna be more in depth. [1644.0s] Your writing is gonna be looked at. [1645.5s] More, exactly. [1647.1s] This group project is worth 50% of your grade. [1650.4s] Oh shit. [1651.2s] Like as far as- I hate working in a group. [1652.8s] As far as the storyline goes, [1654.1s] like these final few pieces are going to be, you know, [1656.7s] setting how the final battle or not battle [1660.7s] is going to go with the rise or fall of Tiamat at the end. [1664.7s] Right? [1666.0s] So yeah, it's kind of good going into this last part [1668.6s] where we're getting these buffs for these characters [1671.1s] and it's gonna be good. [1673.4s] Okay. [1674.2s] So Carla, you're leveled up. [1675.9s] Yeah. [1676.8s] Anything else? [1677.6s] We'll go through spells and stuff [1679.6s] after everybody levels up. [1681.0s] Spells and sheets and all that sort of stuff. [1683.7s] So who's next? [1685.1s] Amy is next. [1685.9s] I think I was next. [1686.8s] You rolled next highest. [1688.3s] Saving the longest for last. [1691.2s] This makes you stick around [1694.1s] so you have to listen to everybody. [1696.3s] You can't just peace out, go get a drink. [1698.1s] You guys have to- [1698.9s] Okay, good call, good call. [1700.8s] You guys have to bear with me here. [1702.7s] Okay, so level 11, I get one six level spell slot. [1708.7s] Damn. [1709.6s] Sorry, we're doing spells now [1710.4s] because that's like my only thing. [1713.9s] You didn't get anything else? [1715.6s] Not really. [1717.1s] I get an ability score improvement [1720.2s] at level 12. [1721.1s] What we said for the ability scores though [1722.9s] is you can choose either the ability score or a new feat. [1725.9s] Oh, right. [1727.2s] Because I had given you those two new feats [1729.8s] on top of your last ability score [1731.7s] but then going forward, we're going to pick or choose. [1735.3s] So if anybody else got an ability score, [1738.1s] you can choose a feat. [1739.4s] Yeah, I did. [1740.2s] I took ability scores though [1741.6s] because it was two, right? [1744.5s] And one of mine was still really low. [1746.2s] Like I still had like a zero on, [1748.0s] like a zero bonus or something on it, [1749.7s] except for charisma because I don't care about that. [1752.0s] That's not how Nulara rolls [1753.3s] but I did take it as ability score improvements. [1756.2s] That said though, [1757.1s] if you want to look through the feats [1759.0s] while Amy's going through her stuff, [1760.9s] and if there's one you would rather take [1762.7s] because some of the feats can be pretty good, [1764.6s] especially now that Nulara has a lot of other [1768.1s] kind of defense and combat based stuff. [1773.2s] Okay, so nothing else has really changed. [1776.6s] So I get a six level spell slot [1779.1s] and I wanted to talk to you guys [1780.8s] before I choose my spell because it matters. [1785.2s] These are my choices. [1789.1s] The first one, I have three that I'm choosing from. [1792.5s] Okay, Amy's just passing books. [1794.3s] Be a book stand, Russ. [1795.7s] Hold this book. [1796.5s] Yeah, God. [1797.9s] One spell that I can get, it's pretty ballin'. [1802.4s] It's called heal, which you know, I already have like. [1806.0s] It's a six level spell. [1807.0s] Yeah, it's a six level spell. [1808.2s] So I can choose a creature that I can see within range. [1812.2s] A surge of positive energy washes through the creature [1815.0s] causing it to regain, wait for it, 70 hit points. [1818.9s] Holy shit. Whoa. [1820.6s] Wow. [1821.5s] This spell also ends blindness, deafness [1823.7s] and any diseases affecting the target. [1826.9s] Yeah, so you know, [1829.5s] we may have been dying a lot recently. [1832.1s] I thought this one could be good. [1837.1s] But then I also was like, [1841.4s] fighting is important too. [1843.3s] And so the next spell that I was thinking of was, [1848.5s] oh, it was sunbeam. [1851.0s] Cause I have moonbeam. [1852.3s] So yeah. Yeah, you do. [1853.6s] Yeah, what's sunbeam do? [1855.2s] I love moonbeam. [1856.8s] I know, sunbeam is also pretty ballin'. [1859.3s] It is a beam of brilliant light flashes out from my hand [1863.2s] in a five foot wide, 60 foot long line. [1866.0s] Each creature must make a constitution saving throw [1868.5s] and receive 68 radiant damage [1871.9s] and is blinded until my next turn. [1875.2s] Damn. [1876.5s] I like 68. [1878.5s] Yeah. [1879.5s] You can create a new line of radiance [1881.3s] as your action on any turn until the spell ends. [1884.6s] This light is sunlight. [1886.2s] They make sure to say that, like it is sunlight. [1888.7s] So I don't know. [1891.2s] Are those the two? [1892.0s] I thought there was a third one. [1892.9s] Is there a third? [1894.1s] Oh, there's a third one. [1895.2s] And it is investiture of flame, ice, stone, or wind. [1900.8s] So essentially- [1902.5s] She picks one of those. [1903.5s] Yeah, I can pick one of these. [1905.0s] But essentially what it does is it covers my body [1907.6s] in the thing that I choose. [1909.7s] So like investiture of flame, [1913.6s] essentially I'm a blaze [1916.9s] and I am immune to fire damage, resistant to cold. [1921.2s] Anyone within five feet of me takes one D10. [1924.1s] I can choose to create a line of fire, [1928.1s] 15 feet long and five foot wide. [1930.3s] And the creatures in there take 48 fire damage. [1935.3s] Ice is very similar, but it's 46 cold damage. [1939.9s] Stone gives me resistance [1941.7s] to bludgeoning, piercing, slashing [1944.8s] from non-magical attacks and so on. [1947.3s] So it's not- [1949.6s] So it is a good range [1950.6s] because that's like healing, fighting [1952.6s] or protecting yourself. [1954.2s] Yeah. [1956.0s] So another thing that apparently I can do [1958.5s] is I can get rid of spells. [1961.1s] So I could take like, [1962.3s] if I'm not using fairy fire from my level one, [1967.7s] I can choose to remove fairy fire [1971.0s] and then add another six level spell. [1976.2s] But I only have one six level spell slot. [1980.2s] So in a battle, I can only, [1983.3s] so I could choose between healing [1985.6s] or the crazy fire thing. [1988.2s] So I don't know if I should be switching [1990.6s] a lot of stuff out knowing I could only use it once. [1993.1s] Like I will have to choose between them anyway. [1995.3s] But what would you, so say, okay. [1997.4s] So the question you have is [2000.5s] should you be a healer, be a tank [2005.7s] or should you have the ability to choose both? [2008.0s] And I think the ability to choose both [2010.1s] is a much more useful tool to you [2013.5s] because when was the last time you used fairy fire? [2016.6s] I can't remember, it was once for funsies, I think. [2020.0s] Although if you reread the description of fairy fire, [2023.3s] it is a very baller spell [2025.1s] and you should be using it constantly. [2027.4s] Really? [2028.2s] Yeah. [2029.1s] Maybe I just don't understand it. [2030.5s] But I mean, like there are certain things that I don't, [2033.2s] cause I mean, right now I do have to, [2035.7s] like I've got cure wounds and I have mass cure wounds. [2039.3s] I've rarely used heat metal or thunder wave. [2042.8s] Yeah, those were things like, [2044.0s] I feel like you use those early on. [2046.8s] Like I remember using heat metal to like, [2049.7s] yeah, to like, you know, [2050.8s] burn someone in their armor or whatever, [2052.7s] which was cool, [2053.5s] but it was definitely when we were like [2055.3s] second level characters. [2056.7s] So yeah, like you just don't really use those. [2059.1s] My like gut, [2060.9s] and this is just my like nihilism speaking, [2064.3s] maybe as a character, [2065.6s] the inevitable rise of Tiamat, et cetera, et cetera, [2068.1s] is that that healing spells rad, [2072.0s] but I would like you to be able to fight more. [2074.4s] Like I feel like you miss out sometimes on the fighting [2078.6s] in a way that isn't as fun for you [2081.4s] because Tom's like killing, killing, killing. [2084.5s] And that's going to be even more of that now, [2086.1s] I suspect. [2087.8s] Which is awesome because that needs to happen more as well. [2090.7s] For sure. [2091.5s] But you, yeah, like if it was me, [2096.5s] it is more fun to like fuck shit up with spells [2100.7s] than it is to heal people afterwards, [2103.2s] which is maybe not very nice. [2105.4s] I'm going to play devil's advocate though. [2109.1s] Yeah, it's more fun to deal combat. [2112.9s] But we're not here to have fun. [2114.2s] No. [2115.1s] But what's, but. [2116.5s] I have made it abundantly clear [2118.2s] that this is not what this podcast is about. [2121.2s] If somebody, fuck off. [2124.4s] If somebody drops to dead, [2126.5s] they are no longer fighting and no longer healing. [2129.0s] True. It's true. [2129.9s] I do have mass cure wounds. [2131.3s] I'm just playing devil's advocate. [2132.1s] And cure wounds though, [2133.1s] that I can pull out at many different spell slot levels. [2137.5s] What's the difference between, [2138.5s] I mean the obvious difference, [2139.9s] like mass cure wounds cures all of us [2141.9s] and cure wounds only cures the one specific person. [2145.7s] See, cause you have that, right? [2147.1s] And you have used it. [2147.9s] We do have some good like healing potions now. [2154.3s] Yeah. [2157.3s] So. [2158.1s] Well, then I think what I'll do is, [2159.2s] I think I will take, [2160.9s] I'll go through and I'll look at fairy fire again. [2163.8s] Thank you for the heads up. [2164.9s] Yeah, you should cause it's awesome. [2166.3s] But I mean, and I also have detect magic, [2170.4s] which I feel is silly. [2173.9s] Because the way you describe things, [2177.8s] like you see like a, you know, [2181.3s] and I'm just like, I'm gonna detect magic. [2183.6s] I know it's magic. [2185.0s] Yeah, that's fair. [2186.1s] It's always magic. [2189.3s] But I mean, with detect magic though, [2190.7s] you also get what type of magic it is. [2193.5s] Yes. [2194.3s] Yes. [2195.1s] Sometimes. [2196.2s] With an arcana check, you don't get that, right? [2199.5s] Like if you want to know lore about something magical, [2202.7s] that's what an arcana check does. [2204.1s] Detect magic. [2205.0s] If you want to know it's actually magic [2206.4s] and what type of magic it is [2207.7s] and how to try and potentially stop it. [2209.5s] This is a protection spell. [2210.6s] That's what detect magic. [2211.7s] This is gonna spray poison all over the place. [2213.9s] Oh, okay. [2216.5s] Okay, so here's what I'm gonna do. [2217.9s] I think I'm going to remove heat metal, [2221.4s] thunder wave and wind wall. [2227.3s] And I think I'm going to take higher level spells and- [2233.6s] I'm also gonna say spoiler alert. [2235.3s] You will level up before Tiamat is even like around again. [2240.2s] So there will be more spells that you can- [2241.9s] Or maybe not around as we know. [2244.0s] Or maybe not around. [2244.8s] Who knows? [2245.7s] See, look at this. [2246.5s] Go either way. [2247.3s] Around, not around, right? [2249.4s] So, but I mean, [2250.3s] these are ones that I definitely don't use. [2252.0s] And if I just even replace them within their own level, [2257.3s] within their own level with a different spell, [2259.1s] you know, something like something might work. [2261.9s] So I think I will take, [2264.8s] I think I will at least, [2266.0s] I'm gonna take two. [2267.0s] I'm gonna take the heal and I'm gonna take sunbeam. [2271.2s] I think. Nice. [2272.2s] So that I have two options in a sixth level spell. [2275.6s] If shit's going our way, [2276.7s] but it's taken a long time to kill something. [2279.1s] But like I, what Carla says is totally true. [2282.0s] Cause sometimes it takes me so long to cast something. [2285.7s] And then for the turn to come back around to me, [2288.7s] like when it's a really big fight, [2290.4s] that all the damage has been pretty much done. [2294.9s] Like, like I'll, [2296.0s] like I'll conjure up a whole shit ton of wolves [2299.1s] and then the fight will be over before- [2301.7s] Yeah, cause you have to wait until your next turn [2303.7s] to like do something with them, right? [2305.7s] So yeah, there has definitely been times [2307.6s] and don't get me wrong. [2308.5s] I fucking love it. [2309.3s] Like there's been gators and there's been wolves. [2311.4s] There's been all these creatures and it's so fun. [2314.0s] But then most like, not mostly, [2315.6s] but it has definitely happened [2316.9s] where then we're just like hanging out with them. [2319.7s] Cause like how long are they around? [2321.2s] They're around for an hour, Russ. [2322.7s] We're hanging out with the fucking wolves. [2324.3s] I don't care. [2325.2s] Of course we are. [2326.0s] We're back in the woods now. [2329.0s] I guess, I guess to that, [2330.9s] it's like threat analysis and action economy, right? [2336.6s] Like you see you're walking into a dragon battle. [2341.2s] You don't wait till six turns in [2343.0s] to cast your big spells. [2344.7s] You know what? [2345.6s] I didn't know if like, [2348.2s] can I cast that spell outside of battle? [2353.1s] Well, you can cast it whenever, [2353.9s] but you don't know you're in battle [2355.1s] until you're in battle. [2356.1s] Yeah. [2356.9s] Well, no, but I mean, [2357.8s] if we're walking into a dragon lair, [2361.7s] can I just be like, look shady? [2363.8s] I want some sharks. [2365.8s] Sure. [2366.7s] Well, sharks might be an odd choice, but- [2369.3s] There was water in that one. [2370.2s] Yeah, but you can make a tornado with your wind wall [2372.2s] and then boom, sharknado. [2374.9s] I need to apologize immensely [2376.8s] for not using fairy fire before. [2378.5s] I would like to make a public apology [2380.9s] to all of our listeners and to you guys [2384.0s] as it gives advantage on attack roles [2387.2s] to anything that is outlined in the fairy fire [2390.2s] and not just from me, [2391.7s] I could have fucking covered that dragon in fairy fire. [2394.6s] No, I couldn't have [2395.5s] because he would have used legendary resistance, [2397.9s] but other things and you guys would have always [2401.8s] had advantage on your attack roles. [2403.7s] I was selfish. [2405.4s] Yeah, it's an awesome spell. [2406.2s] I never make attack roles. [2408.7s] What does it matter? [2410.4s] Well, cause everyone else in the party makes attack roles. [2413.1s] Amy, stop being such a selfish bitch. [2417.0s] I mean, I was thinking those things, [2418.7s] but I would never- [2419.5s] This is really why I hung up the call. [2421.0s] I was like, Amy, you're being such a selfish bitch. [2425.6s] They're gonna be so mad when they find out. [2428.5s] No, I gotta say, [2430.1s] my brother deserves credit on that one [2432.2s] because he specifically in the character he rolled [2435.3s] for the game we're playing with his nine-year-old [2437.2s] made a character that had fairy fire [2439.8s] cause he read it and was like, oh, this is so awesome. [2442.8s] And then when we were playing and he cast the spell [2444.9s] and like told me what it did, [2445.8s] I was like, why isn't Amy using this constantly? [2448.0s] I'm so sorry and gosh, I know. [2451.2s] Well, it's mostly just because you've had that [2454.8s] since level one or two. [2456.9s] Since like day one. [2457.8s] Yeah, cause I was like, [2458.6s] aha, it puts pretty life on them. [2459.8s] And you did that and you were like, [2462.9s] oh, it gives advantage, whatever. [2463.7s] But then you stopped using it [2465.1s] and then you forgot that you had it [2466.8s] or forgot what it did. [2468.5s] So that, I mean, it's just what happens. [2470.0s] If you don't use it, you forget what it does. [2471.8s] Use it or lose it. [2474.1s] Follow up, Amy, you should also reread [2476.2s] what the oath bow does cause it's real good. [2479.1s] We're gonna get there. [2480.3s] We're gonna get there. [2481.2s] My big problem with everything that I have [2485.4s] is that requires rolling is that I roll really shitty. [2490.4s] But if you get advantage on everything. [2493.0s] That would make it much better. [2495.2s] Also something that happens an awful lot [2498.5s] and I think it's why I don't choose these spells [2501.3s] that build up or build on is that generally [2505.2s] if you listen to any of our fights, [2510.2s] I probably only get like one or two spells. [2517.4s] That's true. [2518.2s] And so if fairy fires one of my spells, [2521.1s] I'm not dealing damage. [2521.9s] I know I'm setting myself up and setting everyone else up. [2526.1s] Well, now I know that I'm setting everyone else up. [2528.1s] But like other things too, right? [2530.5s] Like in the middle of a fight, [2531.6s] I'm not gonna mask your wounds [2533.1s] unless we absolutely desperately need it [2534.7s] because to me it's like, well, I attribute it. [2537.6s] Like there's nothing, I gave nothing [2539.2s] to the winning of this fight right now. [2541.4s] There's different types of players and characters though. [2544.4s] There are tanks and support. [2547.4s] I know you'd like to be, you can be both. [2551.0s] I'm the Johnny Cash of tank and support. [2554.3s] Who's saying you can't cast fairy fire, [2556.7s] wild shape into a tanky bear or wolf or something. [2560.3s] That's got the weirdest visual. [2562.4s] And then deal advantage damage as your armored bear, [2568.1s] right, because you now have armor [2570.1s] when you turn into something. [2571.9s] I actually always had that. [2573.8s] No, you didn't. [2574.6s] Yeah, I did. [2575.5s] You could choose whether or not you drop your armor. [2577.5s] No, no, that just melted. [2580.5s] It just means I don't drop it. [2581.4s] I don't get that armor. [2582.2s] You as a bear or wolf now have armor, [2585.9s] like physical armor. [2589.0s] Very big snore from the puppy. [2591.2s] That was a big snore. [2592.7s] That was real good. [2594.2s] It's a little dog. [2595.2s] That's a pretty big snore. [2597.8s] Okay, well, I will, you know, [2601.1s] and it's just about me not being a selfish bitch. [2604.6s] You know what, I can't, I don't hit the hardest. [2608.2s] I don't fight the fightiest. [2610.4s] I'll just have to be my own special version of me [2613.0s] and hope that I'm helpful enough. [2616.6s] Well, you are. [2617.4s] You magic the magiciest. [2618.4s] Sometimes. [2619.2s] It's true. [2620.1s] You're fucking amazing. [2620.9s] A lot of it is how you RP it too, right? [2623.3s] Like, cause once you guys start fighting, [2625.5s] a lot of guys, you guys, [2627.4s] once you guys start fighting, yeah. [2629.3s] Bye bye. [2634.2s] Once you guys start fighting, [2635.4s] a lot of the time you stop RPing. [2639.0s] It's something that I've mentioned before, [2640.6s] but it's something that we should continue to build on [2643.2s] and work on is that RP within combat can still happen. [2647.7s] Like description, you're getting, [2649.4s] everybody's getting better at description [2650.8s] of attacks and battles, [2651.9s] but choosing to talk to an enemy [2654.9s] or to, you know, arrange. [2657.0s] Or to our friends. [2657.8s] Or arrange, you know, [2659.1s] how this attack is going to happen with your friends. [2661.7s] Holding an attack because you know, [2663.6s] Flint is gonna go hit that motherfucker super hard. [2666.2s] And when Flint hits it, [2667.2s] I wanna hit it right after [2668.6s] because I know it's gonna be stunned, right? [2671.4s] So there are different options that you can take [2673.7s] and that you can start to think of as a group, [2676.3s] as opposed to me hit hard, me cast spell, [2679.9s] me do this. [2681.0s] I'm learning so much. [2682.2s] They all affect each other, right? [2685.6s] Yeah, like if I'm gonna go take on some dragon, [2688.0s] and then at the end of my turn, [2689.2s] I let you know I'm gonna like dive out of the way [2691.8s] and you get that sun beam going. [2693.9s] It's all good. [2694.7s] Yeah. [2695.9s] Let's try to do more of that stuff. [2698.2s] Let's try to play better, you guys. [2700.4s] What do you think? [2701.2s] Oh my God, yes, we should definitely do that. [2703.1s] I love it. [2704.0s] I agree. [2704.8s] This sounds like a really good strategy. [2706.0s] So yeah, I promise I will use fairy fire. [2709.6s] It's so good. [2711.0s] I don't even know why. [2714.9s] Tom, you go ahead. [2716.4s] Okay, get ready [2718.2s] because it's gonna take a real long time. [2720.1s] Good, so ready. [2721.7s] I got a third attack. [2724.0s] So I'm just like one and a half times more deadly [2727.6s] than I was before. [2728.9s] Excellent. [2730.2s] And then I also got ability score improvements. [2733.1s] Yay, end of level ups. [2735.8s] Okay, did you want to do a feat there? [2737.7s] Is there anything that... [2739.7s] No, I'm gonna keep the ability score improvements [2742.6s] because it boosts my dexterity if I won. [2745.4s] So I get a two initiative instead of one, [2747.8s] which I like. [2749.0s] And I bumped my wisdom up a little bit [2751.6s] so I'm not quite as fucking tragically dumb. [2753.9s] Sure. [2756.2s] Okay, the only feat that I would recommend [2759.6s] if you were to take a feat would be the dual wielding. [2763.1s] So you have two weapons. [2765.4s] I mean, you usually have your shield, but... [2767.7s] But now you have that hammer too. [2770.1s] I haven't been using a shield for a long time. [2772.1s] I've been using a two-handed axe. [2773.8s] That's true. [2775.0s] You've just been carrying it on your back like Thea. [2777.4s] I thought it was just a style thing. [2779.6s] Yeah, I thought it was like our group dynamic. [2783.5s] Well, so hold on. [2784.6s] No, I keep the two-handed axe [2787.3s] because I have that great weapon fighting [2790.2s] or whatever it is where I get improved criticals. [2792.8s] Oh, no, I get that anyway. [2793.8s] Yeah, great weapon skill. [2795.3s] So yeah, if I get a one or a two on a damage roll, [2797.4s] I get to reroll, which is very handy in some situations. [2801.3s] So for your AC though, [2803.1s] have you been taking off your shield? [2805.1s] Because you still have an AC of like 18, right? [2809.2s] Well, technically my sheet for some reason [2811.6s] says 13 now, which is incorrect. [2813.4s] Yeah, that's not right. [2814.4s] But I am a, let's see here, I have armor training [2818.4s] and I'm wearing like a spiked splint mail, [2820.4s] which is like an AC of 18 right off the bat. [2824.2s] So that's where I get that big AC. [2826.9s] Right, right, right, right, right. [2828.2s] Oh, and I got 31 hit points in two levels. [2832.3s] I'm tough. [2834.0s] Wow, I thought mine were good. [2836.3s] I forget what it was now, like 19 or something, [2838.9s] which was very good. [2839.8s] Okay, yeah. [2841.2s] Yeah, I get, I'm Dwarven toughness, [2843.8s] so I get a bonus one every time. [2845.8s] I have the tough feat, [2847.9s] so I get an extra bonus two every time [2850.0s] and then my con modifier is four. [2851.7s] So I get a bonus seven on top of whatever I roll [2854.6s] every time. [2856.0s] Yeah, oh, that, [2856.8s] because that's one of my ability scores. [2858.2s] I put my con to 14, so I'd get a two bonus [2861.7s] because it was still a 13 and it was only a one. [2864.0s] So that's what I kept one of my, [2866.7s] and my dex I think is the other one I did. [2868.6s] Sorry, did anybody, when they did their ability scores, [2871.0s] did they bump their con? [2872.4s] Sorry, was that what you were saying? [2875.2s] That's what Carl was saying. [2876.0s] I bumped my con, so now I have a, [2877.6s] now it's 14, so I have a two bonus. [2879.9s] Okay, but did you, when your con went up, [2882.9s] so it went up from one to two, yes? [2884.9s] Yes. [2886.6s] So you now get, I get backtracks now. [2890.3s] So you get a plus one for every level [2893.3s] that you were before that. [2895.2s] Oh, it backloads? [2896.2s] I didn't know that. [2897.1s] So if it goes up one more, [2899.2s] at level 12, you get an extra 12 automatically. [2902.8s] What? [2903.7s] Right out of the gate. [2904.5s] Boom. [2905.4s] Add that on there, Carla. [2906.2s] Oh God, okay, so, okay, well I would have added one, [2909.7s] so I get an extra 11. [2911.7s] But it went up at level 12 though, right? [2914.9s] Oh yeah, yeah, so yeah, 11 levels, yeah. [2916.7s] So I took that one. [2917.9s] Yeah. [2918.8s] When I. [2919.6s] Yeah. [2920.4s] Yeah. [2921.3s] Oh damn. [2922.1s] Yeah, plus your con. [2923.5s] So it's 11? [2924.3s] Yeah. [2925.4s] Yeah. [2926.2s] Plus 11 for level 11? [2929.5s] Hold on, did you up your constitution modifier? [2931.6s] That's what I'm saying. [2932.4s] So did you put your ability score into constitution? [2934.6s] I haven't done an ability score yet. [2935.9s] Okay, so don't worry about that. [2937.2s] Because Carla upgraded her constitution modifier, [2940.8s] which buffs her con, which changes her hit points. [2943.7s] Okay, so I can just put 11 in here? [2946.2s] Yes. [2948.6s] But then I get to do it again. [2950.0s] Yes, for level 12. [2951.3s] How many HP do you have now, Tom? [2954.1s] 177. [2955.4s] Fuck. [2957.2s] Damn, dude. [2958.9s] I have 90 hit points, you guys. [2961.5s] There you go. [2963.0s] You guys are all in triple damage. [2963.9s] Cause mine's 124 now, which is a lot. [2966.3s] I thought. [2967.1s] I'm almost, I'm closer to 200 than I am 250, so. [2971.4s] Oh my gosh. [2973.0s] Like I said, act three, there's lots of things, so. [2977.0s] And I mean, also I designed this character [2978.9s] to be purely the fighty, fighty, bashy tank guy. [2982.1s] So mission accomplished. [2983.6s] You min-maxed him, man. [2984.8s] Like you built them properly, yep. [2987.1s] Okay, I will decide on my spells as we mosey along here. [2993.5s] So we've leveled up our characters [2995.2s] from a level 11 to level 12. [2997.0s] We might not get to playing a game tonight. [2998.6s] I'm just gonna forewarn anybody, but we'll see. [3003.0s] Well, we are an hour into the recording, so. [3006.2s] So earlier when you said [3007.2s] you were gonna cut in the time, [3008.4s] just cut in some hysterical laughter. [3010.4s] Yeah. [3011.2s] It's gonna be good. [3014.2s] So now let's go over on our sheets [3019.3s] any abilities that you might've had since level one [3022.4s] that you haven't used. [3023.3s] Any magic items that just have kind of been sitting there. [3025.7s] A fairy fire. [3026.7s] Any spells that you're like, [3028.6s] I have this, but I don't know what it is. [3030.8s] Let's go over that now. [3031.6s] Let's go in the other order. [3034.2s] Tom goes first. [3035.0s] Tom first. [3036.1s] Okay. [3037.3s] Okay, yeah. [3038.4s] So I have some things that I've kind of forgotten [3040.9s] that I had, so this is real good [3042.4s] that we're going through all this. [3043.9s] And I need to rewrite like everything [3046.9s] on my character sheet. [3047.8s] Sure, yeah. [3049.0s] That's what I need to. [3049.8s] But in the meantime, [3051.0s] I will just read it straight from the book [3053.2s] because that's as good as it's gonna get for right now. [3055.1s] And if there's anything you need from me [3056.6s] because I gave it to you or something, [3058.4s] like just let me know. [3059.2s] I will find it. [3060.2s] Sure. [3062.0s] Yeah, so there's a couple real fun things [3064.2s] that I have that I haven't been using, [3066.4s] like my indomitable skill. [3068.4s] So basically I can reroll a saving throw that I fail, [3072.0s] which is awesome. [3074.4s] If I do choose to reroll, [3075.6s] I have to use whatever the result is. [3077.2s] But I mean, if I already failed it, [3078.4s] then what the fuck is the harm in trying again? [3081.6s] Yeah. [3082.5s] So that's awesome. [3083.3s] And at level 13, [3084.4s] I can actually do that twice before a long rest. [3086.7s] So one more level [3087.6s] and that bad boy is gonna get up there, [3090.2s] which is pretty freaking sweet. [3093.6s] Let's see here. [3094.5s] I've got a remarkable athlete as well [3096.7s] where I can add half of my proficiency bonuses [3100.1s] and round up any strength, dex, or con check that I make [3103.0s] that doesn't already use my proficiency bonus. [3105.2s] Now I don't really understand that one [3108.0s] because if I'm using my proficiency bonus, [3110.5s] but I haven't already used it, [3111.8s] like I don't, what is happening here? [3114.4s] Okay, 72 and it's remarkable athletes. [3117.8s] So you can add half your proficiency bonus round up [3121.7s] to any strength, dexterity, or constitution check [3124.0s] you make that doesn't already use your proficiency bonus. [3128.0s] So like, what does that mean? [3131.2s] Oh, here we go. [3132.0s] D and D Reddit, how does remarkable athlete works? [3135.5s] Oh, thanks Reddit. [3137.7s] I mean, other than [3138.5s] for being a complete cesspool of the internet, [3140.5s] but you know. [3141.7s] Sometimes helpful. [3143.1s] Sometimes funny and good stuff on there. [3145.6s] Yep, definitely sometimes funny. [3147.2s] So when you look at your sheet, [3151.2s] let me see here. [3152.6s] So I'm just gonna open your sheet here [3154.8s] just so I'm looking at the same thing. [3157.9s] I feel like my privacy has been violated. [3160.7s] So what they mean is, [3165.0s] do you not have any skill proficiencies? [3168.4s] Have you no skills, man? [3169.6s] No, I have like history and that's about it. [3172.8s] It's not checked though. [3176.1s] Oh, well it should be. [3177.4s] Okay. [3178.2s] There, it's checked. [3181.2s] Oh wait, I think I probably do have like. [3183.6s] That's what that means though. [3184.8s] So when you have acrobatics, [3187.5s] if you don't have proficiency in it, [3189.3s] you can choose to add half your proficiency modifier. [3192.5s] It's kind of like the jack of all trades for the bard. [3194.9s] Where if they don't have proficiency, [3196.2s] they can automatically add half their proficiency [3198.3s] to anything. [3199.4s] But yours is just. [3200.4s] I'm pretty sure I do. [3203.0s] Okay, I'm pretty sure I do have like athletics [3205.5s] and something else as well [3206.8s] that was on my original like paper sheet [3208.7s] that I just never checked the box for. [3210.1s] So when you built your character, [3212.0s] you should have picked two. [3215.6s] So acrobatics, animal handling, athletics, history, [3218.7s] insight, intimidation, perception, and survival. [3221.0s] You could have picked two from those. [3224.5s] I'll have to go to my paper sheet. [3225.9s] I'm sure it's on there. [3227.0s] But you should also get skills [3228.8s] from your soldier background as well. [3232.0s] So check that out. [3234.6s] Okay, I will check that out. [3236.4s] Just to make sure you're getting. [3237.4s] I'm gonna write that down right now. [3238.8s] Soldier background. [3240.9s] Okay, so that's what that is. [3242.3s] So anything that you don't already have proficiency in [3244.6s] that has the dex, con, or strength check. [3246.8s] And I'm like, make an acrobatics check. [3248.5s] And you're like, I don't have proficiency. [3250.0s] You get a bonus two because your proficiency is four. [3254.9s] So you just kind of have to remember that you have that. [3259.0s] Which is real good. [3260.3s] I'm good at remembering everything that I have. [3263.2s] Couldn't even finish the sentence. [3265.5s] I'll try and help too. [3266.4s] And now that we're kind of going through it [3267.7s] as a group, [3268.6s] that's why I wanted to go through it as a group [3269.6s] as well is Carla and Amy can now say, [3272.4s] hey, you've got that remarkable athlete thing. [3274.4s] Don't you? [3275.2s] Can you add a bonus to that? [3277.1s] Yeah. [3278.2s] Don't you know sports? [3281.2s] I do know sports, it's true. [3283.9s] Okay, yeah, all right, that's good. [3285.8s] Yeah, so there's a couple other things. [3288.0s] I have to remember my feet of heavy armor master [3291.9s] because any bludgeoning, piercing, [3293.5s] or slashing non-magic damage, [3295.1s] I get to reduce that by three. [3296.5s] Oh, there you go. [3297.4s] Oh, that's good. [3298.6s] I have to remember that bad boy [3300.4s] because I don't believe I have been remembering it. [3303.4s] How I would- [3304.2s] Russ, how can you help us remember things better [3306.5s] because that is where we really fall apart, [3309.2s] to be honest. [3310.0s] I was looking at my sheet and was like, [3311.8s] oh yeah, that's a thing. [3313.4s] Yeah, I think once I rewrite my sheet, [3316.4s] I will have a better, [3317.8s] because I had things like dark vision [3320.8s] and stone cunning and all these things [3323.5s] that don't make a fucking difference [3326.1s] at the top of my list [3327.2s] and things that are important at the bottom of my list. [3329.6s] And I'm like, oh, well, if I don't scroll down, [3331.3s] then I'm never gonna see them. [3332.3s] So I'm gonna redo everything [3333.5s] and put the important things at the top. [3335.7s] Yeah, I rewrote all of mine [3337.2s] because I didn't have it as like, [3338.4s] for some reason on my main character sheet, [3341.1s] I didn't have it compendium compatible [3343.2s] where it like gives it like a hand line. [3344.9s] Yeah, mine is like that too. [3345.7s] And because it's just easier to sort through. [3349.6s] So I did that. [3350.5s] How do I fix that? [3351.3s] Do I have to redo everything? [3352.1s] I mean, I would copy paste what changes [3355.9s] to like a word document [3357.6s] and then switch it to compendium compatible. [3359.1s] And then you can even just click and drag stuff [3361.0s] right into it. [3361.9s] You don't need to type everything out. [3363.4s] The other thing I might recommend [3365.4s] is just adding in the headline, [3367.0s] like what that specific thing helps you with. [3369.4s] So if it's combat, [3370.2s] then write combat in brackets beside it. [3372.8s] So that when you're in combat, [3374.1s] you're like, okay, well, what skills do I have [3375.9s] that might be able to help me? [3377.3s] And then you can just go through [3378.5s] and more quickly remember what you have. [3381.5s] Okay, some other things that I have, [3384.3s] I got that awesome feather fan. [3386.8s] It's bedazzled and has glass bobble. [3388.4s] Still don't know what it does. [3390.2s] What, you didn't write down? [3392.1s] Well, it was what, 8d8 healing spells or whatever, [3395.6s] but Russ seemed to not like that one. [3397.5s] So. [3398.5s] Well, no, I just, no, okay. [3402.0s] Oh, this was during the dragon, I remember now. [3406.2s] Okay, so what you said though, [3408.5s] is that within each bobble, [3410.5s] there is a 1d8 healing thing. [3414.0s] Yes, and there are eight bobbles. [3415.6s] So you, so, okay, so to clarify though, [3418.5s] how does Flint use those? [3420.9s] Well, he has to whip out his fan all fancy like [3423.3s] and remove a bobble from the center of one of the fan. [3427.4s] So do I just like crush it in my hand [3429.1s] or do I like smoke bomb it on the ground? [3430.9s] Like, what do I do? [3431.8s] Or just remove it and then the energy absorbs. [3434.2s] Like, how do you envision it playing out? [3437.6s] Like for RP? [3438.4s] You crush it in your hands. [3439.9s] Cause you're a super strong dude. [3441.5s] Crush it in my hand, okay. [3442.5s] So you take one damage for glass shattering in your hand. [3445.6s] No, you don't. [3447.2s] I'm wearing gloves, thank you very much. [3449.1s] When he crushes it, it's like, [3450.8s] I think somehow like sandstone. [3453.2s] Sure, yeah, okay, I get that. [3455.4s] It's very fine powders, like anthrax. [3457.4s] You actually end up breathing it in. [3458.3s] Excellent. [3460.0s] But unlike anthrax, this heals you. [3463.2s] It's like cocaine. [3464.0s] It's the healing version of anthrax. [3467.0s] Okay, I also have the rabbit's foot that Nularaaaa gave me. [3472.0s] So that's gonna be very handy. [3473.6s] I get like a 1d4 extra roll whenever I need it. [3477.2s] I'm assuming it's like once per long rest. [3479.4s] Once a day. [3480.2s] Yeah, once per long rest. [3481.8s] Yeah, let's treat that like the luck kind of thing. [3484.4s] So you pick a time when you're like, [3486.4s] before I say that passes or fails, you're like. [3489.1s] Yeah, like the bardic inspiration. [3490.8s] Yeah, I'm gonna call and just roll this [3493.4s] and then, you know, add the 1d4 or whatever it was. [3497.3s] Okay. [3498.2s] Okay, and I think that's pretty much the majority [3500.7s] of like my special things. [3502.9s] I mean, I have those potions [3504.1s] that we went over a couple episodes ago. [3506.3s] So I still have those all written down. [3508.2s] Okay, any magical items that you have [3511.2s] that you want to go over? [3513.8s] Yes, there is the throwing axe. [3516.2s] I need more details about that one. [3518.3s] Throwing axe? [3519.2s] That was a while ago. [3520.7s] Remember I got like a magical [3522.3s] returning throwing axe from the dragons? [3523.2s] Oh, no, that's the dwarven thrower. [3524.8s] That's a hammer. [3525.6s] Oh, the hammer. [3526.5s] That's your Mew Mew. [3527.3s] That's uh. [3528.3s] Your Mew. [3529.4s] Mew, Mew, Mew. [3530.8s] Mew, Mew, Mew. [3532.0s] Mew, Mew, Mew, Mew. [3533.4s] Yeah, cause I hadn't made it [3535.0s] to the end of the episode yet, [3536.0s] but I was like, oh yeah, that throwing. [3537.7s] I thought it was an axe, [3538.6s] but I was like that throwing thing. [3539.7s] I need to know more about that [3541.0s] cause it was so long ago. [3542.4s] Yeah, so your dwarven thrower. [3544.7s] I will give you the details. [3546.3s] You also have a Rod of Lordly Might. [3549.8s] If you don't have that written down, you still. [3551.7s] Oh, yeah, no, I still have that one. [3552.8s] That's my ladder. [3553.5s] Yeah. Well, it's more than a ladder. [3556.2s] Oh, that's true. [3556.8s] So let's maybe go over that. [3558.2s] But I've only ever used it. [3559.6s] Yeah. It's kind of very handy as a ladder. [3561.8s] Yeah. So number of times go over that one again, just for this, [3565.2s] for the people, because it's got a lot of other. [3567.6s] So their dwarven thrower, first of all, is a weapon war hammer [3572.8s] requires attunement by a dwarf, [3577.1s] which attunement just means you have I just have to spend. [3580.3s] I just have to spend time with sit and talk to it and tell it. [3583.0s] It's so pretty. [3585.2s] And then look, it is so pretty, guys. [3587.4s] So you gain a plus three. [3588.9s] I have to polish my hammer, Amy. [3591.6s] No, you're Rod of Lordly Might. [3593.4s] We're talking about that. [3594.5s] OK, perfect. Sorry. [3597.1s] I wasn't paying attention. [3598.5s] So you gain a plus three bonus to attack and damage rolls [3602.2s] made with this magic weapon. [3604.2s] So when you roll to attack, you get a plus three. [3606.5s] And when you roll your damage, you get a plus three. [3609.3s] Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. [3610.2s] It has the throne property with a normal range of 20 feet [3614.3s] and a long range of 60 feet. [3615.9s] So that's normally with your bow. [3617.1s] You have an inside and an outside number. [3619.2s] That's what that is. Yeah. [3620.7s] When you hit with a ranged attack, this weapon use deals [3624.0s] an extra one D8 damage or if the target is a giant to D8 damage [3631.0s] immediately after attack, the weapon flies back to your hand. [3634.5s] You don't need to call it. It just comes back to you. [3636.9s] Oh, damn. So when we were fighting those Edens, [3639.5s] that would have been really handy. [3640.5s] You didn't have it. [3642.3s] No, I know. But it would have been because I also speak giant [3646.3s] with my counterpart there. [3648.2s] And I forgot about that. So yeah. [3652.5s] I'm going to remember. [3653.4s] So but you're the actual [3656.9s] damage stuff, because that doesn't tell you what the actual damage is. [3661.2s] Is it is one D8 bludgeoning versatile one day 10. [3665.8s] So if you use it two handed, it's a one D10. [3669.7s] And then you get the extra one D8 if it's thrown plus three [3675.2s] plus your normal proficiency. [3676.3s] I would probably only ever use it as a throwing option [3679.2s] because my axe is way better than a damage watch. [3681.4s] So how you should write that, though, is one D8 or one D10 [3685.8s] plus three plus eight. [3691.0s] So plus 11 in total. [3692.8s] Yeah. Plus three is magic is the magic bonus. [3695.8s] And then plus eight is your strength and proficiency bonus. [3701.7s] Because you should be proficient. [3703.7s] It doesn't actually say on your sheet, but you should be proficient with [3707.2s] all like all melee weapons and then ranged. [3710.1s] I will not rain. [3710.9s] I am. I'm pretty much a master of all of them. [3714.3s] OK. And then your rod of lordly might, which is not his penis. [3719.4s] Well, I mean, it could be it could also be. [3724.0s] I don't know. I mean, what a what a happy coincidence [3726.8s] if that's what Flint refers to. [3729.4s] Guys, look what I found. [3732.4s] It was meant to be mine. [3734.6s] And you recommended me taking the dual wielding. [3738.5s] Come on, Russ. [3741.4s] Ha ha ha. [3749.3s] So your rod of lordly might. [3752.3s] So you gain. [3753.2s] When did you get this? [3754.2s] You got this was this was your first. [3755.9s] This was your first gotcha pawn type thing, right? [3759.1s] Like, yeah. [3760.6s] So this rod has a flanged head and it functions as a magic mace. [3766.7s] Again, I mean, I'm reading it up here time after time. [3773.4s] And it functions as a magic mace [3776.2s] that grants a plus three bonus to attack and damage roles made with it. [3780.6s] So it in and of itself has damage, which I will give you. [3785.3s] Yeah, because I was using this as a mace, like a warhammer style thing. [3791.0s] And then we got that like awesome ax from that dude. [3793.5s] We jumped on the highway. [3794.8s] Yep. And it was a much better weapon. [3797.4s] So I've just been using that. [3798.6s] So do you have the mace damage with it still or do you need that? [3803.8s] I could just use everything you got. [3806.4s] OK, so the mace is one d six bludgeoning plus three plus eight. [3814.0s] And a plus three. [3815.0s] I also have a dungeon master guide, so I can look at this. [3819.3s] I know where it is. [3820.1s] That's OK. We should still go through it, though, just so everybody knows. [3823.2s] And that's that's what we're doing this episode. So [3827.6s] so the rod. [3828.7s] I just don't want everybody to be disappointed by my rod. [3832.1s] Ah, [3833.5s] ah, ha, ha. [3836.0s] Lordly might know that, yeah. [3838.2s] Anyways, the rod has properties associated with six different buttons [3842.4s] that are set in a row along the haft. [3844.4s] It has three other properties as well detailed below. [3847.5s] So the six buttons, you can press one of these six buttons [3850.9s] and a different effect happens and last until you push a different button [3854.3s] or until you push the same button again, say button again, button again. [3859.1s] If you press button one, [3861.2s] The rod becomes a flame tongue, which we already have, but it becomes a flame tongue and has [3870.0s] a fiery blade that sprouts from the end opposite the rod's flanged head. [3876.0s] Button two, the rod's flanged head folds down and two crescent shaped blades spring [3884.2s] out transforming the rod into a magic battle axe that grants plus three to attack and [3888.6s] damage rolls made with it. [3891.0s] Because yeah, I was using it as the axe when I was using it. [3895.2s] If you press button three, the rod's flanged head folds down, a spear point springs from [3900.5s] the rod's tip and the rod's handle lengthens into a six foot haft, transforming the [3906.7s] rod into a magic spear that grants a plus three to attack and damage rolls made with [3911.3s] it. [3912.3s] If he swings it really hard, does it cover whoever's in front of him with like a... [3917.5s] That's button five. [3921.4s] So button four. [3923.7s] Button four is what you've been using this magic item as. [3926.5s] It turns into a 50 foot ladder. [3929.0s] Yeah it does. [3930.0s] A climbing pole, sorry. [3933.6s] Of course, because it had to sound more phallic. [3935.7s] Hey baby, check out my climbing pole. [3938.5s] Climbing pole up to 50 feet long, as you specify. [3941.5s] That one's very intimidating. [3942.5s] It does. [3943.5s] I don't know what to do with that. [3946.5s] Never mind. [3948.4s] That is too much for me, thank you. [3953.4s] You are not going to find a girl like that, huh? [3956.4s] It's a big commitment. [3958.4s] So hold on, can I now talk about my boobs of godly waza? [3963.4s] Yeah. [3964.4s] Because I feel like we've been talking about Flint's dick forever. [3971.4s] It's been a very extended segment. [3975.4s] Let's just get through these buttons because this is where the fun stuff happens. [3982.4s] If you press button five, the rod transforms into a handheld battering ram and grants [3987.6s] its user a plus 10 to strength checks made to break through doors, barricades, and [3991.8s] other barriers. [3992.8s] I feel like that could have come in handy at some point. [3996.2s] I can't recall exactly when, but... [3998.2s] Don't make that face at us, Russ. [4001.4s] If you press button six, the rod assumes or remains in its normal form and indicates magnetic [4006.5s] north. [4007.5s] Nothing happens in this function. [4009.0s] The rod also gives you the knowledge of your approximate depth beneath ground or height [4013.0s] above it. [4014.4s] So it acts as a compass and a... [4016.5s] Barometer? [4017.5s] Barometer. [4018.5s] Well, maybe not a barometer. [4019.5s] That's not a barometer. [4020.5s] No. [4021.5s] Okay. [4022.5s] Sorry. [4023.5s] Now it has... [4024.5s] There's still two more options. [4026.3s] That's all the buttons you have, but now you have three other properties. [4029.8s] So when you hit with this... [4031.8s] So you have Drain Life, Paralyze, or Terrify. [4035.4s] I don't think you've ever used any of those. [4037.3s] Never. [4038.3s] I don't think this is ever a thing I saw before. [4040.2s] So Drain Life, when you hit a creature with a melee attack using the rod, you [4044.1s] can force the target to make a DC 17 con saving throw. [4048.5s] On a failure, the target takes an extra... [4050.7s] That's a hard save. [4051.7s] Yeah. [4052.7s] Yeah. [4053.7s] This is a fucking rare, legendary, magical item that I gave you. [4057.7s] Listeners, I'm going to peel back the curtain for a second. [4061.7s] When Russ gave me this item, he had printed it out on little pieces of paper and given [4066.3s] me them. [4067.3s] And I don't think he ever gave me this part of it, to be honest with you. [4070.2s] I feel like I did, but I don't know. [4072.5s] It also was like literally years ago. [4075.2s] Yeah. [4076.2s] It's like three years ago at this point. [4077.2s] I just looked at the flame tongue stuff that's still in my book and it was like, [4080.1s] it was printed out, which means it was before Russ and Amy moved to Korea. [4083.7s] It was like three years ago. [4085.5s] And you didn't hold on to those little pieces of paper, Tom? [4087.9s] It's not so bad. [4088.9s] We don't remember. [4089.9s] Okay. [4090.9s] So let's get through this here. [4091.9s] Because this is like, if you hit with this. [4092.9s] Okay. [4093.9s] So on a failure, the target takes an extra 46 necrotic damage, 4d6, not 46. [4098.6s] And you regain a number of hit points equal to half that necrotic damage. [4102.8s] What? [4103.8s] What? [4104.8s] See, like if I knew this was going on, I would have been using this the whole [4108.5s] time. [4109.5s] Wow. [4110.5s] This is a good one. [4112.0s] This property can't be used again until next dawn. [4114.4s] So you use it once, but you can regain, you know, up to 12 damage if you roll max on [4121.7s] everything. [4122.7s] Right. [4123.7s] Or you can. [4124.7s] Sure. [4125.7s] If things are desperate, then. [4126.7s] Which they are. [4127.7s] Paralyze. [4128.7s] Constantly. [4129.7s] When you hit a creature with a melee attack using this rod, you can force that target [4132.7s] to make a DC 17 strength saving throw. [4135.2s] On a failure, the target is paralyzed for one minute. [4138.4s] The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending [4141.7s] the effect on success. [4143.0s] And again, that property can't be used until next dawn. [4146.2s] He is paralyzed. [4147.6s] Question for you, Russ. [4148.6s] Yeah. [4149.6s] Yeah. [4150.6s] I was going to say if I were to use this and land the paralyzing blow, could you [4154.2s] play paralyzer by finger 11? [4156.1s] As I just started to sing it. [4157.6s] Yeah. [4158.6s] We're on the same wavelength, you and I, Tom. [4160.6s] I'll message them. [4162.8s] Finger 11. [4163.8s] What if we got their permission? [4164.8s] They're nerds, man. [4165.8s] A couple of them play, like, World of Warcraft and stuff, so. [4170.8s] So it's possible. [4171.9s] That you're on messaging them and getting them on the show. [4175.4s] Great. OK. [4176.2s] Or just or just saying, yes, you can use the song paralyzer. [4179.5s] No, get them on the show. [4182.1s] OK. Yeah. [4183.4s] Shoot high. Shoot high. [4185.1s] All right. Yeah. [4186.2s] OK. Last one. [4188.0s] Terrified. Final option. [4189.5s] While holding the rod, you can use and while holding the rod, [4193.4s] you can use an action to force each creature you can see within 30 feet of you [4197.6s] to make a DC 17 wisdom saving throw. [4200.3s] On a failure, a target is frightened of you for one minute. [4205.2s] They can repeat that at the end, but that means they can't move towards you. [4209.0s] Like, that's when the dragon uses its frightful presence. [4211.8s] Yeah. They can't move towards you. [4213.5s] They can't attack you. [4214.7s] They can't until they say from that they can't go near you. [4218.4s] Yeah, I'm going to I'm going to have to bust this weapon out again, guys. [4222.4s] I think we also, like, forget to, like, swap between weapons. [4225.9s] Yeah. You have your defaults at this point, right? [4228.6s] You kind of get focused on the one you're using. [4230.5s] The axe you have does a shit ton of damage. [4232.8s] But like this one, but nothing special. [4235.4s] This one, you know, if you're looking to get a little life back [4239.2s] or makes, you know, put the guy down, but not you can just tell me [4243.3s] if you're not wanting to kill him. [4244.6s] But, you know, what? Yeah. [4246.4s] But yeah, like there's an extra there's huge bonus to using this weapon [4249.9s] as opposed to the ones you have aside from. [4252.7s] Well, I know that I have like a third attack. [4255.3s] Any damage offset that I would lose [4258.0s] from using my giant bastard axe all of a sudden isn't so bad. [4263.7s] OK. Anything else you got on your sheet that you need? [4267.8s] Um, no, I think that's pretty much everything. [4274.4s] We just double check here real quick. [4276.9s] Flipping pages, flipping pages. [4279.6s] Oh, I'm sometimes taken over by a dragon man, but we already knew that. [4283.0s] All right. Onward number. [4285.4s] Yeah. Well, that every once in a while, narratively, [4287.7s] we'll be delving into that more coming up. [4291.2s] Oh, and I also have a note here that says free stew at beefy stews. [4294.7s] So you just got to find where stew left to. [4297.3s] And you've got that stew on lock, man. Excellent. [4300.6s] So if we're going in reverse, are you ready or do you want Carla to go first? [4304.2s] I'm ready. OK. [4305.5s] But Carla hasn't spoken in a long time, so Carla wants to go. [4308.0s] That's OK. No, you go ahead. [4309.5s] Yeah, I've got less. [4310.4s] I'm excited to find out what you've got now. [4312.5s] It's like a whole new game. [4313.4s] So let's go through. [4314.3s] Like I said, let's go through your abilities, your magic stuff [4317.3s] and some spells that you probably haven't used in a while. OK. [4323.6s] My abilities, like my proficiency, [4326.5s] more like your your class and racial stuff that might help you. [4330.6s] Like his remarkable athlete thing and dark vision. [4334.3s] Naturally, my fe ancestry, [4337.2s] which gives me saving throws against being charmed. [4340.7s] And and magic can't put you to sleep. [4342.6s] OK, so does this mean that I should have had? [4346.9s] Jesus, is Tom OK? [4348.0s] I think Tom finished talking. [4349.7s] He's going to go get a drink now. [4351.3s] Yeah, I wonder if he probably had to pee. [4353.7s] He's been waiting this whole time. [4354.6s] If those Pomplamoose beers are cold enough for him. [4358.0s] OK, so does this mean like when a dragon? [4362.4s] Yeah, once too. [4364.0s] I dropped a bunch of paper. [4365.7s] A feared on me. [4367.7s] Is that is that them trying to charm me? [4369.7s] And do I have a fucking advantage against that? [4372.0s] Fear, charm and frightened are different things. [4377.8s] So charmed, a charmed creature can't attack the charmer. [4381.1s] So this is like if somebody comes up to you and you are under my spell [4384.8s] and you will do as I say, that type of thing. OK. Frightened. [4389.9s] They have disadvantage on ability checks and attack roles [4393.2s] while the source of fear is within its sight. [4395.0s] So whether they're attacking, there's no saving. [4398.4s] Yes, there is. [4399.3s] Well, there's a saving thrill against it. [4400.7s] There's a DC. [4401.5s] OK. Yeah. All right. [4402.7s] So the answer is no. [4403.7s] So I can't be charmed. [4404.8s] No one is charming to me. [4407.1s] A trance. [4408.3s] I could meditate for four hours instead of sleeping. [4410.9s] Yeah, you've used that yet. [4413.4s] Researcher, my background. [4415.5s] I know where to find information. [4418.6s] I'm immune to poison and disease. [4421.6s] Oh, I can't be frightened. [4423.5s] There you go. [4424.4s] So that is something by elementals or face. [4427.6s] OK, elementals or face, but dragons. [4429.2s] Yes. Yeah, I guess so. [4430.3s] So but poison and disease. [4433.2s] Yeah, we found that out the hard way. [4434.6s] You shouldn't have taken any poison damage off of anything [4438.3s] that happened in that cave. [4439.4s] I know. Yeah. [4440.8s] Well, we figured that out after. [4442.7s] Yeah. And I'm also resistant poison, [4444.8s] so I should have been having my damage. [4446.8s] So your Laura, you still died. [4448.7s] OK. Yeah, sorry. [4453.7s] I have just a weak little human, but we love you. [4457.8s] We keep you around like a pet. [4458.9s] Sure. It's a true story. [4459.9s] We know you're going to go before us [4462.2s] and it's going to be sad, but then we'll get a new human [4464.4s] after a while. [4465.4s] We'll get a new human. [4467.4s] After enough time has passed. [4469.0s] We'll find a new level one. [4471.4s] Ultimate lesson in sadness. [4473.2s] OK, I have a ring of spell storing. [4476.1s] It currently holds third level healing word, [4479.3s] first level guiding bolt and first level searing smite. [4483.8s] So you've had those since the first gacha pawn. [4486.5s] Yeah, I can also put two spells in there. [4490.6s] No, no. [4491.8s] So that holds up to five levels of spells. [4494.6s] Oh, third level, first level, first level, five levels. [4497.3s] Yeah, if you cast a fifth level spell in there, [4499.1s] it can only hold that. [4500.2s] Gotcha. Yeah. [4501.2s] All right. Also, I'm lucky. [4503.0s] But you also have to use those before you can put anything in. [4505.6s] Yar. Yeah. [4507.1s] OK, so I'm. Yar. [4508.6s] Yar. Pirating. [4510.2s] You're lucky. I'm super lucky. [4511.9s] I have the inexplicable luck [4513.9s] and I have three luck points that I can use. [4516.3s] Whenever I make an attack roll, an ability check or a saving throw, [4520.3s] I can, which I did use this when we were with the dragon, [4523.8s] I can spend a luck point to roll an additional d20. [4527.0s] So this is sorry. [4528.0s] This isn't a druid or race thing. [4529.7s] This is a feat that you picked up when I said, hey, guys, go [4532.3s] pick a couple of feats. This is one of those feats. [4534.3s] Yeah. I can also spend a luck point [4538.6s] when an attack roll is made against me. [4541.0s] I can roll a d20 and then choose whether the attack uses my roll [4545.7s] or their roll. [4548.1s] If more than one creature spends a luck point to influence an outcome, [4551.2s] that doesn't really matter. [4552.8s] I get those back after a long rest. [4555.1s] And then I also have magic initiate, which is another feat, [4559.0s] which means I got extra spells to use. [4562.4s] And you picked warlock spells. [4563.7s] I did pick warlock spells because they were badass. [4566.4s] I got two cantrips and one first level spell. [4571.0s] OK, but I can only ever use them once in that spell slot. [4576.1s] I can't use them at higher levels and I get it back after. [4580.8s] A long rest. [4582.0s] OK, so that's your abilities. [4584.0s] Magic items. OK. [4587.4s] Well, I have a potion I have passed without a trace still. [4594.6s] For three years. [4595.4s] But we haven't needed it because you can cast that spell, Carla. [4599.3s] OK, so as we're going through magic items, though, [4603.0s] look at what you have, look at what you need and look at what you can [4607.3s] use as like a sell point in a game. [4609.6s] Like you can go into a store and say, hey, I've got these potions. [4612.3s] You want to buy them? [4613.4s] And then you get or I want that on the shelf right there. [4616.0s] Let's trade these. Yeah. [4617.6s] OK, so I have a pass without a trace, trace, trace. [4621.4s] I also have 16 healing kits, [4625.4s] which we can't ever seem to remember what a healing kit does. [4629.0s] Yeah, you don't need 16. Stabilizes you if you're dying. [4631.1s] Cool. You don't need 16. [4632.8s] But yeah, yeah. [4634.4s] Well, it was fantasy Costco. [4636.5s] There's a deal. [4639.4s] I have zero dragon arrows right now, apparently. [4642.3s] I have 20 precious stones, which I assume I'm using for my spells. [4647.0s] Haven't really never really got into that. [4648.9s] Yeah, you you picked up precious stones in like a hoard somewhere. [4653.6s] So they can be sold for money. [4655.5s] Old hoard house. Right. [4657.4s] They can be traded for gold or used as money. [4660.4s] I got to update this. [4662.4s] I no longer have a bag of holding. [4665.0s] OK, so that said, what was in your bag of holding? [4669.8s] Oh, fuck. [4670.9s] My precious stones were in my goddamn bag of holding, motherfucker. [4677.2s] So you no longer have 20 precious stones. [4682.0s] Was your hip still enter in your bag of holding? [4684.4s] Yeah, yeah. [4689.4s] That was a real word you just said. [4691.1s] Hibsor, Hitler. [4694.0s] Yeah, I remember those funny fade. [4695.5s] I just heard it. Yeah, yeah. [4696.8s] I just heard it as like one word and I was like, I don't know what that is. [4699.6s] So, Antler, the old Hibsor, Antler. [4702.6s] OK, hold on. [4703.5s] Zetterzi. Because in in in game and in the episode, [4708.2s] you just handed her the bag. [4711.0s] So what I'm going to go back now, I can't take that back. [4715.0s] What I'm going to tell you, though, is just maybe put them [4718.1s] on a different part of your sheet. [4719.8s] And if you ever come across that character again, [4722.6s] if there's anything you want back, then you might have to barter for it. [4725.7s] Right. Like, OK, remember the bag of holding I gave you? [4729.3s] And I also had a whole bunch of stuff in it. [4731.1s] That was really cool. [4732.1s] But maybe you don't need like that weird antler. [4734.2s] So where were those 16 healing kits? [4739.5s] I probably had a lot of them in the bag of holding, [4742.4s] but I also had some on my I've got like my little utility belt. [4747.0s] So I'm not I'm not your cargo shorts. [4749.3s] I'm not trying to dump your character right now, but I'm just trying to care. [4752.5s] No, it's like, you know, I probably had I probably had five on my person. [4757.4s] OK. And the rest, I mean, who carries 16 healing kits in their pockets? [4762.6s] Let's be really honest when you have a bag of holding. [4764.8s] Exactly. You put every when you have a bag of holding, [4767.1s] you put everything in the bag of holding. [4768.8s] Yeah. If you don't. [4770.2s] Although I'm going to say you left your oath boat on the train. [4772.8s] Oh, my boat is always slung. [4775.6s] OK, good cross. Yeah. [4778.7s] Along with your shield, that was totally just her decoration for the longest time. [4783.3s] I have three uncommon healing potions. [4785.4s] Those were with me. [4788.6s] Shield, hide armor. [4790.1s] I had my boots of levitation on, [4792.1s] you know, which are bad ass hover boots. [4796.2s] They're my hover boots. [4798.8s] I have a yellow prank potion. [4801.7s] Oh, yeah. [4802.9s] Which Addison was very pleased with herself today when I told her, I'm like, [4807.3s] remember that potion that you helped dad make? [4809.6s] And she was like, which one? [4810.7s] And I was like, the one that turns people banana yellow. [4813.3s] And she's like, yeah, I was like, yeah, you turned me banana yellow. [4816.1s] She goes, I got you. [4817.7s] I'm going to make a green one now. [4824.0s] She came up to me, she's like, Dad, do you need any more potions? [4826.2s] I was like, not today, kid. [4827.3s] She also told me she wanted to make a potion that when someone drank it, [4830.6s] it covered them head to toe in slime for one million years. [4834.2s] Yeah, she did. Yeah. [4835.2s] I didn't put that one in there. Wow. [4837.4s] I was like, you're brutal. [4838.9s] Yeah, it's funny that she remembered that because she did come up with that one. [4844.1s] I have. An amulet [4848.2s] that I just recently got and obviously was wearing, [4852.0s] and that gives me that's. [4854.9s] That's the that's the barding for your wild shape. [4859.2s] And I have my so armor. [4861.0s] When you turn into the wolf, you now have plus three AC as soon as you change. [4865.0s] So you're not like a lab in here. [4867.7s] And I have my garter of holding. Right. [4872.6s] Right. Yeah, that's your bank. [4873.7s] My bank account. Yep. Yep. [4876.3s] OK, so that's that. OK. [4879.4s] And I did choose my new spells here. [4882.4s] Did you want to go over your oath bow? [4883.6s] Because that also is a magic. There it is. [4885.2s] OK, here we go. Here we go. [4888.6s] Oh, I also have my Jade serpentine serpentine owl. [4893.2s] She was on you. [4894.5s] Yes, she's always on me. [4897.0s] She's always in a little pocket that I have, like close to my heart. [4901.0s] She's I wouldn't just throw her in an endless bag of holding. [4904.6s] What a terrible. [4905.4s] Be like, I need to get my out. [4906.6s] Can you go? Hold on a second. [4908.3s] And I'm like rummaging through like what a room, a room full of stuff. [4912.6s] You just say you just say what you want. [4915.2s] You reach in and it's. [4915.8s] Yeah, but where is she floating when she's in there? [4919.1s] So I have a bunch of gold, silver and copper, but that got put into the. [4925.6s] The multiple fanny packs of holding that we have amulets dragon. [4930.8s] So that you picked up like the first cave you went into, [4935.3s] you picked up like a cult of the dragon amulet. [4938.8s] And that's what that is. [4940.4s] Is like a it has an insignia on it and it is like my pocket. [4944.8s] I thought I think maybe that's like one of those things [4947.3s] where that might come in handy later. [4949.2s] I don't know. [4949.9s] You've secretly been wearing it the whole time, [4951.8s] because you're a member of the cult of the dragon. [4953.9s] I'll never tell. [4956.3s] I also have a 200 gold to share. [4958.2s] I think at some point we got we got a bunch of gold [4962.7s] and instead of divvying it out, I kind of just stopped writing down money. [4965.7s] Yeah, I stopped writing down money, too. [4969.3s] Oh, I also have oak bark from my lovely gift from new Laura [4976.6s] that I have oak bark dash bark skin to 17. [4982.9s] You cast once a day bark skin and it's on page two seven. [4985.8s] Oh, it's on page two 17. [4987.4s] Oh, yeah. [4988.5s] And you should have three nutshells for me as well. [4990.7s] Yeah, three acorn shells that that make confusion. [4995.0s] Yeah, which is on 224. [4997.0s] Acorns of confusion. [4999.1s] Yeah. OK. [5001.0s] Sounds like a good band name. [5002.7s] And I also have a charm bracelet with a moon charm that means [5006.8s] I can reroll wisdom saves. [5009.3s] Where did you get that from? [5011.3s] Charm bracelet with a moon charm. [5013.9s] Oh, right, right, right, right. [5016.8s] The guy with the thumbs up. [5018.5s] I wasn't looking over there. [5019.9s] I was looking. I was like, where did that come from? [5021.5s] He gave me the prettiest thing. [5023.0s] Yeah. So it's made out of Solarian true steel. [5026.5s] Solarian, which I don't think I've ever used, [5031.9s] but I don't think I've had many. [5033.1s] I don't think we've had a lot of with saves. [5035.1s] Yeah, you went through a lot of wisdom saves in like in the. [5037.8s] But I did well. [5039.0s] But then because I have a wisdom modifier for. Yeah. [5042.5s] Oh, and no of eight. [5044.2s] I have a bonus of eight. [5046.8s] My wisdom's balling already, but that gives me extra [5049.4s] in case, you know, I'm having a bad day. [5050.6s] Do you still want your oathbow stuff? [5052.4s] Yeah. Where is my fucking oathbow stuff? [5054.6s] I don't know. You have oathbow under your weapons, but. [5056.6s] Yeah, you should reread it because it is real good, too. [5060.1s] So here we go. [5063.8s] Disadvantage if sworn foe is alive. [5067.4s] Swift defeat to my enemies. [5068.8s] I have to say that before I use it. [5070.6s] I wish it was something super awesome like movie [5072.7s] Caliente or whatever, but that's fine. [5077.4s] Oh, I wrote swift deaths to you who have. [5082.2s] And then they're just so broke and depressed. [5085.2s] But you know why it says that this I went for so quick. [5088.2s] This was the time when I was [5091.8s] using the iPad mostly, and we had to voice. [5096.2s] Oh, yeah, that was a nightmare on Roll20 with the iPad. [5099.4s] I had to voice everything. [5101.8s] So I didn't type it. [5102.6s] I was just doing voice to text recognition and it did its best. [5106.2s] OK, so so hold on. [5108.2s] Choose one enemy. [5109.0s] I get plus two advantage to attack. [5112.6s] That's all it has in here. [5113.7s] I know there's a lot more to it. [5115.4s] So, yeah, OK, I'm going to read it from the top to the bottom [5118.7s] because that's not even entirely correct. [5121.0s] So when you knock an arrow on this bow, it whispers in elvish. [5125.4s] Swift defeat to my enemies. [5127.0s] Oh, I don't have to say it. [5128.7s] It speaks to you when you use this weapon to make a ranged attack. [5132.7s] You can, as a command phrase, say swift death to you who have wronged me. [5137.8s] The target of your attack becomes your sworn enemy [5140.6s] until it dies or until dawn seven days later. [5144.6s] You can have only one such sworn enemy at a time. [5147.5s] When your sworn enemy dies, you can choose a new one after the next dawn. [5151.4s] When you make a ranged attack roll with this weapon against your sworn enemy, [5154.6s] you have advantage on the roll. [5156.7s] In addition, your target gains no benefit from cover [5159.8s] other than total cover, and you suffer no disadvantage due to long range. [5163.5s] So it doesn't matter how far away they are. [5167.1s] It goes. [5168.4s] So this thing is run away. [5170.4s] I can't even see it anymore. [5172.1s] I can whisper it to this arrow. [5173.8s] Swift death to as long as there's no way you would have had to whisper it to it [5177.5s] before. But so if the attack hits, your sworn enemy takes an extra 3D six [5182.8s] damage. And while your sworn enemy lives, you have a disadvantage [5186.6s] on attack rolls with all other weapons. [5188.5s] So as soon as you swear this weapon, [5191.4s] this is the weapon you have to use until you kill that thing. [5194.2s] OK. Now, what if do I have disadvantage on all other things [5198.6s] while fighting this thing or just in my life in general? [5202.1s] While your sworn enemy lives. [5204.0s] So until dawn seven days later, if it still lives, [5207.5s] you have disadvantage on attack rolls with all other weapons. [5211.5s] OK, so if I'm fighting even something different. [5213.7s] So if you're using like a quarter staff, meh. [5217.1s] Yeah. Even if I'm not fighting it. [5219.1s] Yes. Shit. [5220.8s] So it doesn't matter if you mostly use. [5223.4s] Yeah, I was going to say you're mostly using magical attacks. [5225.8s] Like, oh, it's not such a big deal. [5227.2s] Doesn't really matter. [5228.2s] But essentially, RP wise, it's driving you. [5232.6s] You've now declared this as your enemy. [5235.2s] That is the be all and end all to kill. [5237.3s] And the oath bow recognizes that and says, if you don't use me, [5241.6s] you're going to have a tough time trying to kill anything else [5244.2s] with any other weapon until we take down that bad guy. Right. [5248.0s] OK, what's next? Very neat. [5250.0s] I will use it more. My spells. [5253.0s] OK, just just go through the ones that you haven't really used. [5256.0s] Everybody knows that you have blight and that you have [5260.2s] a cantrip guidance I never use. [5264.2s] I can touch a willing creature. [5265.8s] And once before the spell ends, the target can roll a D4 [5268.9s] and add the number roll to the ability check of its choice. [5272.0s] It can roll the die before or after making the ability check. [5274.9s] The spell then ends. [5276.6s] It gives somebody a buff. Yeah. Yeah. [5279.3s] So if someone was trying to do something very particular, [5281.9s] you could help them out with that. [5283.7s] I also have guiding bolt, which I never use, but I should [5290.0s] because a flash of light streaks towards a creature of your choice within range. [5294.2s] OK, here's the question. [5295.6s] When they say when it says make a ranged spell attack, [5298.9s] I got to roll for that shit, don't I? Yeah. [5300.6s] OK, that's what I thought. [5301.6s] There's a reason why I don't use some of these spells, [5303.5s] ladies and gentlemen, because I can't roll with shit. [5305.5s] The range spell attack would be like you're making a bow attack. [5308.2s] Yeah. But on a hit, the target takes four D6 radiant damage. [5312.1s] This is a cantrip that I can use all the time. [5316.3s] And the next attack roll made against this target [5318.5s] before the end of your next turn has advantage. [5320.8s] So if I go and I hit it with this, [5324.2s] then Carla goes, she gets advantage and then Tom goes [5327.7s] and he gets advantage. [5328.8s] It's just the no on the next turn, just the next one. [5331.4s] I think on the next attack roll. [5332.9s] So the very next attack roll. [5334.5s] So only one person gets to get advantage. Yeah. [5338.2s] Thanks to the mythical dim light gathered by the target until then. [5342.4s] So it's just you can see it a lot better. [5344.2s] So you can hit a lot better. [5345.8s] I also have a couple of new ones which I haven't used. [5349.2s] Eldritch Blast, which is the crackly energy [5352.5s] and the target takes one D10 force damage. [5356.0s] You use that in the against Kuf and stuff. [5359.1s] Oh, did I? Yeah. Oh, yeah. [5360.4s] And Toll the Dead. Yeah. OK. [5364.4s] Fairy fire. We know. [5365.2s] And I used it in Carla's bonus episode. [5368.0s] I know that I've heard that recently. [5372.8s] I don't think I used. [5375.2s] This is new, but the arms of Hadar from your wizard stuff. [5378.8s] Yeah. So warlock warlock. [5382.8s] Tendrils of dark energy erupt from me [5385.1s] and batter all creatures within 10 feet of me. [5388.0s] I imagine that to be kind of like Raven from [5391.7s] from Teen Titans. Yeah. [5394.7s] Essentially, yeah. [5396.1s] Uh, OK, I got to say one thing before we go. [5400.0s] So I was watching Deadpool two the other day. [5402.1s] And the first trailer was like super duper grisly, [5405.6s] like fucking brutal stuff. [5407.5s] The second trailer was Teen Titans go to the movies. [5411.2s] And the third trailer was the new Purge movie. [5413.7s] That's awesome. So I was like, this is a very wide range of. [5417.1s] They know their demographic right within it. [5419.8s] Oh, boy. Yep. [5423.1s] So anyway, my Raven like tendrils make [5426.3s] 2D6 necrotic damage [5430.1s] and it can't take any reactions. [5433.1s] Um, my levitate boots, you know, I can. [5438.0s] Um, it's only me and I can go up to 20 feet [5443.6s] and stay suspended for the duration. [5445.8s] It lasts up to 10 minutes. [5448.4s] Um, yeah. [5451.5s] And it can be up to 500 pounds, so I guess I could carry someone. [5457.6s] I'd probably have to make a strength check that I would probably fail [5461.0s] miserably. [5462.0s] You got to be able to carry it. [5463.9s] Just don't use the rainbow dice. [5465.3s] You'll be fine. [5465.8s] God, there's rainbow dice. [5467.6s] OK, so I added a new one on. [5469.6s] This is a brand new one. [5470.5s] I took off something else and added a new one here. [5473.5s] Flame blade, because obviously I have a Nulara compLex. [5477.4s] Everybody's got to be just like her because she's so cool. [5481.4s] The flame blade bandits. [5483.2s] But mine isn't an actual blade. [5485.5s] So I evoke a fiery blade in my free hand. [5488.6s] So it's about the size and shape of a scimitar. [5491.0s] And if I let go of it, it disappears. [5494.0s] But I can evoke it again as a bonus action. [5496.2s] So it never really disappears, I guess. [5498.2s] And yeah, it's a it's a melee spell attack and they take 3D six fire damage. [5504.3s] So I have a fiery thing that doesn't deal as much damage, [5508.0s] but a little probably buffs at higher levels, too, right? [5512.8s] In 3D six. [5513.6s] No, it doesn't. [5514.8s] You cast at higher levels, right? [5516.0s] Yes. [5517.0s] Fourth level or higher and increases by one D six [5520.7s] for every two slots above second level. Right. [5523.9s] So yeah, 3D six is still pretty good. [5526.2s] Yeah, it is pretty good for a second level. [5529.2s] Spell spell. Yeah. [5531.1s] Um, I decided to remove a third level spell because they're all absolute shit. [5536.8s] And then they are. [5539.1s] No, I'm sorry about Wizards of the Coast. [5540.8s] Yeah, I really did not. [5542.1s] Just kidding. We love you. [5543.1s] Don't throw them in town. [5545.0s] Who are we calling out today? [5547.1s] Now, I haven't looked in Xanathar's guide because for some reason, [5550.6s] D20 doesn't feel necessary to update it. [5553.2s] You have to pay for it. [5554.7s] Oh, I'm paying for shit. [5556.8s] Anyway, I will look and if I do find one, I will remove something else [5561.2s] because I have the right amount of spells. [5563.0s] I just move them in different areas. [5564.9s] So I just removed one. [5565.9s] So now I have an extra spell slot that I can just. [5570.4s] It's not that you have an extra spell slot. [5572.0s] I put a different one into a different level. [5575.2s] So I added stone skin to a level four. [5579.6s] So it turns a willing creature as hard as stone. [5585.2s] Interdict joke here until the spell ends. [5588.7s] The target has really a theme so far as that has resistance [5591.9s] and non-magical bludgeoning, piercing and slashing. [5595.6s] So it's kind of like bark skin. [5598.6s] I guess, but even stronger, because it's stone. [5602.0s] And then I also added to my fourth level. [5605.6s] Oh, yeah, because I ice storm, which, you know, in a 20 foot radius, [5612.4s] 40 foot high cylinder, there's like a rock hard ice pounds to the ground. [5617.6s] And each creature takes 2D8 bludgeoning damage and 4D6 cold damage. [5625.0s] On an unsuccessful save, so it's pretty good. [5628.0s] Um, and then I also took out Geyas, Gesh, [5633.4s] because everything I wanted to control, I couldn't. [5637.2s] And that was frustrating me. [5638.2s] And that meant I had a fifth level spell slot that wasn't doing shit. [5641.8s] So I took that off. [5643.8s] I would have kept it because you know, there, you're going to walk [5646.0s] across somebody who is pissing you off, but they're like a low level [5649.4s] thing and you can just tell them to go fuck off or just follow them. [5653.9s] Follow you around and dance for the rest of their life. [5656.9s] Instead of that, because that'd be super weird. [5661.9s] I don't think Thea wants anyone around her that much. [5664.2s] You could cover them in slime for a million years. [5668.0s] I decided to choose Contagion. [5670.8s] This is super cool. [5672.5s] So my touch inflicts disease. [5675.4s] So I make a melee spell attack against a creature. [5678.3s] And when I hit them, they get one of these wonderful diseases. [5683.7s] It could be blinding sickness. [5686.9s] Pain grips a creature's mind, its eyes turn milky white. [5689.6s] It has disadvantage on wisdom checks, wisdom saving throw and are blinded. [5694.3s] A filth fever, which sounds disgusting. [5697.4s] A raging fever sweeps through the creature's body. [5699.7s] It has disadvantage on strength [5701.8s] checks, saving throws and attack rolls that use strength. [5705.8s] Flesh rot. [5706.6s] Sounds like something a doctor would have like [5709.0s] diagnosed in like the 1800s. [5711.5s] He's got the filth fever. [5713.6s] The flesh rot, which comes shortly after the filth fever, I'm sure. [5717.4s] The creature's flesh decays. [5719.4s] It has disadvantage, disadvantage on charisma checks [5722.6s] because no one's charming when their skin's falling off. [5724.9s] It has disadvantage on living and is vulnerable to all damage. [5731.3s] So it's it just has disadvantage on everything. [5733.9s] I guess it's vulnerable, which means it takes double. [5736.1s] It just takes double damage. [5737.3s] That's fantastic. [5738.8s] Or mind fire. [5740.4s] The creature's mind becomes feverish. [5742.3s] They have disadvantage on intelligence checks, saving throws, [5745.1s] and the creature behaves as if it's under the effects of confusion spell [5748.7s] during the combat, or I can make it have a seizure. [5753.1s] It's overcome with shaking. [5755.0s] It has disadvantage on dexterity checks and saving throws [5759.0s] and attacks that use dexterity or slimy doom. [5763.6s] The creature begins to bleed uncontrollably. [5766.6s] It has disadvantage on constitution and saving throws. [5769.8s] And whenever the creature takes damage, [5771.7s] it is stunned until the end of its next turn. [5776.2s] It's pretty dark. [5777.4s] A slimy doom just sounds kind of cool. [5779.4s] It does. All of those sound good. [5781.0s] Yeah. But the flesh rot double, double damage. [5784.0s] That's awesome. So that's that's pretty cool. [5787.0s] That's pretty cool. [5787.6s] And then, yeah, you took heal and sunbeam that we discussed. [5790.9s] So some of these, I have too many in that particular level. [5794.8s] So like, you know, I have to pick and choose, [5797.8s] depending on the situation. [5799.0s] So just so what what you're saying when you say too many [5803.0s] is that you have more spells and you have spell slots [5805.6s] and you were treating it as I should have one spell per spell slot, [5808.4s] which is not the case. You don't need that. [5810.5s] I got confused. [5811.2s] You as a druid need to are allowed to know X number of spells, [5815.4s] which is your druid level plus so many spells. [5818.9s] But yeah, you have spell slots that scale up as you level up. [5822.5s] So you can know 12 six level spells at this point, [5826.5s] but you can only use one. Right. [5829.0s] So you have to choose where you want to put them [5831.6s] and where they're most effective. [5833.2s] Am I allowed to have 12 altogether? Is that my number? [5835.7s] No, it's it's your druid level plus your wisdom modifier. [5839.2s] So 12 plus whatever that should be like 16. [5842.6s] No, that's your attack. Go back to your core. [5846.4s] Oh, so it should be 16 because 12 plus eight wisdom. [5850.1s] No, your wisdom modifier is not eight. Oh, four. [5852.7s] So you're going to have 60 for 16. [5855.4s] I'm just 20, 32, 97. [5860.2s] I don't know. I think you'd need like what? [5862.0s] Like a possible five is the highest you can get a 26 wisdom [5865.7s] in order to get a plus eight. [5867.5s] Oh, I'm counting everything, but some of these don't count [5869.8s] because they're my fucking. Yeah. [5871.8s] All right. Anyway, that's it for me. [5874.2s] And it took a long time, Carl. [5875.6s] I'm sorry. We shouldn't have started. [5877.4s] That's all right. [5879.0s] Because it had already had it about my rod for way longer. [5881.8s] So that was the main thing. [5888.0s] So me, like my two main magical items [5892.1s] that like never come up because we've had them since we started. [5895.2s] Yeah. Are the gauntlets of ogre power, which makes my strength 19. [5901.3s] And I'm honestly surprised no one has asked why I am so strong [5904.8s] because I am just a human ranger. [5906.8s] And maybe we mentioned it in early episodes. [5908.7s] I honestly can't remember. [5910.2s] But I had those from when we were still playing at the table. [5913.2s] Like, so from before we even started. [5915.0s] So, yeah, I have those gauntlets of ogre power, which give me [5918.9s] they're just like gauntlets that I wear that give me a strength of 19. [5923.8s] And flame tongue. [5926.4s] Which is my main weapon that I always use, [5928.4s] so I probably don't need to explain that all that much [5930.7s] because it just has been a part of the thing for the whole thing. [5936.2s] Other things I have. [5940.4s] Well, I've just got some like some some dope new shit just recently, [5945.1s] which would be like that animated shield. [5948.9s] Sorry, before we move on, do you do you know? [5952.4s] Say you were to. [5953.6s] I'm not I'm not saying every time I say something, [5956.7s] it makes me sound like I'm going to take something away. [5958.1s] But say the gauntlets of ogre power. [5961.8s] Do you know what your base strength is? [5964.8s] If you take them off, how strong are you? [5967.9s] You know, let me look on my paper sheet. [5970.2s] I think I probably do, because it's probably still on my old one. [5973.1s] Like, I wouldn't have transferred it. [5974.6s] But yeah, I do. [5977.8s] It was an amazing 12. [5979.5s] So that's just something to know about it, which is fine. [5982.5s] It's just of course, I haven't updated it like in years [5985.2s] because I have those gauntlets, right? [5987.5s] But yeah, I do have it written down just in case like [5990.6s] because that fuels into your attack bonuses and that fuels into like everything. [5994.8s] So if those disappear for whatever reason, [5997.4s] then we have to know what it goes back to for a lot of things. [6000.6s] For whatever reason, for example, we're just talking about mechanics [6005.1s] and what happens, right? [6006.2s] It's a good question. [6007.2s] Yeah, yeah, I do have it. [6008.4s] So it's on my my old actual paper sheet. [6013.5s] Yeah, I got that shield, which I like just got. [6019.8s] I have my banana orb. [6023.9s] Banana yellow. [6026.3s] I have an alchemist ring, [6027.7s] which gives me an extra D6 when I have a healing potion. [6032.4s] I have I have this under. [6034.9s] Well, it is a spell, but it's kind of not a spell. [6037.8s] But I have that [6041.9s] boomerang arrow, which was not one of my like spell slot spells, [6045.9s] but I can cast it and then my arrows. [6048.9s] Let me see if it's I think it is all of them. [6051.1s] Yeah, if they miss, they come back. [6053.2s] Yeah, yeah, they come they come back to me. [6057.9s] Spells are all just the ones I've always had, [6061.6s] except my one new one is actually pretty good. [6063.6s] It's conjure barrage, [6067.5s] which is a pretty good one, especially because most of my spells, [6070.6s] like I'm not particularly magical, so they're not amazing. [6073.3s] But this one is pretty good. [6075.2s] If I throw a non magical weapon or fire, [6080.2s] non magical ammunition, so like an arrow or whatever, [6083.3s] or even probably a rock with my sleigh, a spear. [6087.7s] Each creature in a 60 foot cone has to succeed on a deck save, [6091.6s] and they take three D8 damage on a failed save. [6097.6s] Nice. Sorry, I am. [6101.4s] Yeah, so it's it's it's a pretty good one [6106.2s] when we're in combat, especially because sometimes we do end up [6109.3s] being in like a ranged fight attack. [6112.2s] And then it's like, oh, I'm kind of useless. [6114.4s] So it's good. It's good that I that's why I took that one, [6118.0s] just because I'm obviously better up close with [6122.0s] with flametongue. [6123.3s] I also got Dragon Slayer. [6124.9s] Again, this was just very recently that that happened. [6127.6s] But that is my pretty badass sword. [6132.0s] I mean, I will still mostly use flametongue, [6133.8s] except against a dragon, [6136.9s] because it gives me a shitload of extra damage against dragons, [6140.8s] particularly like three extra D6 [6145.4s] plus the two D10 that it normally gives. [6149.0s] Is that right? [6150.3s] Yeah. Oh, two D10 plus. [6152.2s] That's actually better. [6153.8s] You might want to use that. I was just going to. [6155.3s] Well, I don't get as good of an attack bonus on it, though. [6158.7s] But anyway, but against a dragon, [6162.7s] that's a fuckload of damage. [6164.4s] Damn. Against a dragon, [6167.2s] I'd have two D10 plus two plus three D6 plus four, [6171.9s] because they're my greater favorite enemy. [6175.0s] Jesus. Damn, Carla. [6178.3s] In hindsight, we could have kicked this dragon's ass. [6181.3s] Well, I didn't have that yet. I just got it. [6183.5s] I just got it. [6184.4s] That was like we found that dragon. [6186.8s] You beat the boss battle and then you find all the cool stuff to beat the boss. [6189.9s] Yeah. Or you don't beat the boss battle, but somehow. [6194.7s] So and a bunch of my other stuff I already talked about, [6196.6s] like my feats I'll touch on just like briefly. [6200.5s] One of the ones I picked is alert. [6202.1s] So that was what gave me a plus five to my initiative, [6204.6s] which is why I have an eight initiative. [6206.2s] I can't be surprised and enemies can't hide from me. [6209.6s] And then I also have durable, [6212.8s] which upped my con by one and gives me [6217.6s] a minimum hit die increase of four. [6221.0s] So I can't go lower than that. [6222.5s] I think a lot of this other stuff I already talked about [6225.7s] when I was kind of talking about my other stuff. [6233.9s] Yeah, just. Yeah. [6235.2s] And uncommon healing kits, [6238.6s] blah, blah, special healing potion that we got just now. [6241.8s] Magical. No. Oh, God. [6244.7s] What? What just happened? [6246.7s] I I don't know what you said. [6249.3s] That just made me. Magical healing potion. No. [6253.1s] Um, OK, you figure that out. [6254.7s] I got rings from the dragon. Fuck. [6257.9s] Oh, yeah. From. [6259.3s] Yeah, don't forget the stuff from the dragon that you got from the Dragon Council. [6262.5s] Right. Because we played that a while ago. [6264.0s] I think the only thing I got is throwing an axe. [6266.5s] Nularaaaa got some armor and Thea got the rings of. [6272.0s] I have all the details here. I can give them to you. [6274.3s] Sorry. Just going back, because we didn't touch on the Carla. [6278.0s] Just didn't touch on the belt. [6280.6s] Sorry. I'm just trying to get this. [6282.5s] Dwarven kind, I get you. [6283.6s] I've Dwarven kind because we didn't touch on that for Flint. [6287.0s] Oh, yeah. Which you have. [6289.2s] But I've been wearing nonstop because it gives me plus two to con. [6293.5s] Yes. So the one thing. [6301.5s] And if I shave my beard off, it will give me a glorious beard. [6304.5s] Yeah. Nice. Right. [6306.5s] The one thing about that, [6308.9s] because you guys often run into the issue of you're like, well, I can see, [6312.0s] I can see Nularaaaa can't see the belt of Dwarven kind gives you dark vision. [6317.3s] Oh, she could wear your belt. [6319.3s] So if you were to give Nularaaaa, [6322.8s] I think you would lose all the con bonus. [6325.2s] You would lose all the bonuses while you're not wearing it, obviously. [6328.3s] But if it's going into like a like a deep, dark under dark [6331.8s] cavern or whatever, and you need Nularaaaa to see [6335.0s] without having flame tongue or a banana orb or something [6338.2s] to draw attention to you. [6340.0s] That is an option to just wear the belt. [6343.3s] And then she has dark vision and then, you know, resistance [6347.2s] to poison and damage and all that, which you're growing ability. Yeah. Yeah. [6353.2s] Sorry. Go ahead. [6354.6s] No, that's good. [6355.4s] I it's actually I'm glad you remind me of the Dragon Council stuff [6358.3s] because I had written it down. [6359.4s] But obviously, I didn't I don't actually have it until now. [6363.9s] But I didn't have it like, was there a name or anything? [6366.4s] So what happened was I got a patch that I can. [6370.0s] So what she that turns into armor. [6372.7s] So what she did is she she, you know, she RPed it like she does. [6376.7s] Way to go, Victoria. [6378.4s] Yeah, she tore off a piece of her clothing or something, [6382.7s] and it turned into plate armor of lightning resistance. [6386.2s] And then you dragged it away like clanging and so [6391.7s] you have resistance to lightning damage while you wear this armor. [6394.5s] But what we can do is [6398.4s] because that's not let's let's retcon what that is, [6403.1s] because that's not as not as big as some of the other things that [6407.8s] because what I wrote down is that it is to resist chromatic dragons. [6413.0s] I don't know what that means. [6414.1s] It was specifically it was specifically lightning damage. [6418.2s] But we're going to say that it's [6421.6s] it's armor of invulnerability. [6424.6s] OK, so you is that can you just send me a pic of that? [6428.1s] I mean, please explain it now for listeners. [6430.1s] But yes, I will explain it. [6432.2s] But yes, I will send it to you. [6434.3s] So you have resistance to nonmagical damage while you wear this armor. [6439.2s] So any any nonmagical damage, you have resistance [6442.7s] and you take half damage if you take any damage. [6445.8s] Additionally, you can use an action to make yourself immune [6449.1s] to nonmagical damage for 10 minutes [6452.0s] or until you no longer wearing the armor. [6454.5s] Once the special action is used, it can't be used again until next dawn. [6459.2s] So you have to. [6460.8s] So while you're wearing it, you have resistance. [6462.8s] So you take half damage if you get hit. [6465.8s] And then once once a day, [6469.7s] you can say, I want to be immune to slashing damage. [6473.9s] And any time slashing damage hits you, you take zero damage. [6478.2s] OK, so you just have to pick real good [6480.6s] what kind of damage you want to do. [6482.3s] Yeah, you don't pick it right out of the gate. [6484.2s] Obviously, you wait till you get hit a couple of times. [6486.0s] See what they're doing. [6486.7s] First thing when you wake up, you're like, oh, bludgeoning today. [6490.1s] It's like a bludgeoning kind of day. [6491.8s] That said, it's only 10 minutes, right? [6494.4s] So you pick it mid partway through a battle and you're like, [6497.7s] OK, for the rest of this battle, this guy isn't going to be able to hurt me [6500.8s] or these couple of people aren't going to be able to hurt me. [6503.5s] Obviously, if you saw a bunch of reinforcements [6505.7s] to run in the room with axes, well, yeah, pick slashing damage. Yeah. [6509.5s] Yeah. Or I want to run at someone and attack them [6511.9s] and not be. Vulnerable to their [6515.8s] so we'll say because you already have armor, we'll say that the [6521.8s] the armor that you have, like your AC is not your AC won't change, [6526.4s] but you'll have these added bonuses to your ability. [6530.4s] So you're going to be taking half damage basically to anything nonmagical. [6534.6s] Unless your AC is AC Slater, [6536.8s] because you'll become a lot more rounded as the series goes on. [6542.9s] So we'll retcon that it was supposed to be lightning damage, [6549.2s] but this is this is much better. [6551.1s] And the weapons that got doled out, it wasn't actually bAlydinced [6555.9s] the way that I had set it up. [6557.2s] So let's do that. Fucking Ranger gets screwed again. [6560.2s] I'm sorry. Just kidding. [6562.4s] No, it's fine. It's all it's all coming up Carla now. [6565.5s] And I think that's it or maybe it's not. [6568.3s] But that's all I have. [6570.3s] Let's go. [6571.1s] Maybe let's go through some of your spells, because like you said, [6573.6s] you're nonmagical, but you do have a lot of spells that can help you. Right. [6577.9s] So let's maybe go through some of those. [6580.8s] Yeah. So I have [6584.2s] starting at the low end, [6587.3s] I have hail of thorns, which just throws out some [6591.8s] some thorns on a thing, gives them an extra D10. [6595.2s] So it's not bad, but that's on a ranged weapon attack. [6598.5s] One thing to remember is that's a bonus action, too. [6601.7s] So that doesn't count as a regular action. [6604.7s] So you cast that and then you can still do your attack [6608.0s] or three attacks or whatever you have. [6613.1s] So if you were using your bow, you could cast that [6615.7s] and then go through with your attacks like normal. Yep. [6620.0s] OK, because in in combat, you have your movement, [6623.8s] you have a bonus action and then you have your regular action. [6626.3s] And then if you have extra actions, that's what gets added up. [6629.3s] But right. Yeah. [6630.6s] So you can you can do you can move, [6633.2s] cast that and then still fire an arrow and still do. Right. [6637.0s] Extra damage. [6638.6s] Yeah, honestly, I think it's just because it's right. [6640.5s] Like I have maybe used it, but because it's ranged, I don't use it a lot. [6644.7s] Animal friendship. [6646.3s] Animals are the best. [6649.4s] Hunter's Mark, I have used this as well, although not often, [6652.6s] but I get an extra D6 and then it gives me like [6656.6s] wisdom bonuses and stuff on it. Yeah. [6661.0s] That's that's like the real low, low, low, low level version of the oath bow. [6665.6s] It's just like I say, like, I'm going to get you. [6668.8s] And then sometimes I do. [6671.1s] Well, it gives you it gives you advantage and stuff, too, doesn't it? [6673.4s] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think so. [6676.0s] In snaring strike, same thing. [6678.5s] Weapon attack and then like some vines and stuff come out [6681.1s] and try to restrain them. Mm hmm. [6683.9s] A pass without trace. [6687.1s] Come on, we all know what that does. [6688.4s] Come up, let's talk about that a bit. [6691.1s] Water walk. [6692.9s] I can walk on water. [6694.0s] And so can you guys. [6696.4s] Which we used one time, I'm pretty sure. Yeah. Yeah. [6700.4s] And then you wrote on your alligators, too. [6702.6s] So it all it all worked out. [6704.8s] Wind wall. [6706.5s] Just like it sounds, a big wall and it will [6710.6s] it does give a bludgeoning [6714.8s] bludgeoning bludgeoning damage and can blow away [6719.6s] like fog and smoke and stuff. [6721.3s] I mean, honestly, I just need to like use my spells more. [6725.5s] And then conjure barrage, [6727.2s] which is my new one that I just got on this most recent level up, [6730.4s] which is a real fun one. [6733.6s] It's kind of. Yeah. [6734.6s] So I guess the biggest thing I'd recommend for your spells [6738.5s] and stuff is just look at which ones are bonus actions, [6740.9s] because you can do those no matter what and then still do all your regular [6743.9s] like a Hunter's Mark. [6744.7s] You can use that and then still do all your sword attacks, right? [6748.0s] And do extra damage and have advantage. [6750.2s] And like it all stacks. [6752.6s] And then you get bonuses for hitting this one thing [6756.8s] because, yeah, Hunter's Mark is a bonus. [6760.2s] The [6762.2s] hail of thorns is a bonus. [6764.7s] By the way, that hail of thorns, if you use it at a higher level, [6767.5s] it goes up like every time. [6770.1s] So, yeah. [6771.7s] And I now have like I do have third level spell slots now. [6775.4s] So, yeah, which is which is good. [6781.1s] Yeah, so that that gives me a bit more juice on some of those. [6786.7s] But yeah, I definitely like don't use my spells enough [6789.7s] and snaring strike is a bonus action as well. [6792.8s] Like a lot of ranger stuff is bonus action because they they want you [6796.2s] to be able to use nature and still deal out a shit ton of damage. [6802.8s] Right. So it's like a defense offense all in one. [6807.5s] Yeah, I just just need to remember. [6809.8s] Yeah. That's why we're going. [6812.4s] It's why I think that's the theme of tonight's why we just need to remember. [6816.6s] We just need to remember why we're going through now. [6818.9s] So, yeah, like I said, when we when we hit combat and you start swinging, [6823.4s] Amy or Tom can be like, hey, what about Hunter's Mark? [6826.2s] Or hail of thorns, because you're firing an arrow as an option. [6829.8s] I would like to throw out a preemptive apology to the listeners [6833.1s] that when we immediately forget about these things in the next episode, [6836.3s] please don't be mad. Yeah. [6838.9s] We're doing our best. [6839.9s] And sometimes that's not very good. [6841.4s] But we our intentions are so good. So good. Yeah. [6846.9s] Just a little side note. [6847.9s] I picked a feat, gave me 24 extra hit points. [6851.6s] What? Nice. Was it tough? [6853.6s] Was it tough? Yeah, it was. [6856.1s] I was like, a lot of these other things are kind of cool, [6859.2s] but I think mostly I just need to not die. [6862.3s] And I have very little hit points comparatively to others. [6866.1s] So, yeah. Yeah. [6867.2s] Now, you're all pretty well, aside from Flint, you're like [6869.7s] because you have 114, Nularaaa has 124, Flint has a thousand. [6873.7s] Gosh, I'm so close. [6876.0s] Hey, can I figure out these rings? [6878.5s] Would you mind giving me a little info? [6880.7s] Only if Carla's done. Sorry. [6882.7s] Yeah, I think I am. [6884.5s] Yeah, between the tough feat and Dwarven toughness, [6887.3s] as a bonus being a Mountain Dwarf, I have just a scads of hit points. [6892.5s] You're so tough. Just so tough. [6894.5s] So, yeah. Like double tough, guys. [6896.1s] So from Namur, you got Ring Gates. [6899.0s] Ring Gates, knew it. [6900.5s] So these always come in pairs, two iron rings, [6903.6s] each about 18 inches in diameter. [6906.8s] The rings must be on the same plane of existence [6909.2s] and within 100 miles of each other to function. [6912.4s] Whatever is put through one ring comes out the other [6915.9s] and up to 100 pounds of material can be transferred each day. [6921.2s] Objects only partially pushed through and then retracted do not count. [6925.5s] So if you reach your arm through, pull something back out [6928.6s] like your arm doesn't count, but whatever you brought through with it counts. [6932.4s] Whereas if you send Flamikinskins through it, she counts. [6936.8s] You know what I'm saying? [6938.1s] OK, but we went through this. [6940.9s] Can I punch through it? [6943.1s] Yeah, I mean, OK. [6944.8s] Yeah, I mean, my whole fist can go through it. [6947.8s] Like, yeah. OK, so here, Flint, hold this up to your face. [6950.8s] Yeah, this. Oh, this. [6953.7s] So this useful, useful device allows you to instantaneously transport [6957.8s] the instantaneous transport of items or messages and even attacks. [6961.9s] A character can reach through and grab things near the other ring [6965.3s] or even stab a weapon through. [6967.0s] So if desired, alternatively, shit, [6969.9s] you could like throw it in front of someone [6971.6s] while someone shoots an arrow through the other one and like. [6974.7s] Yeah, that was a crazy coordinated attack. [6977.6s] Portal shit happening here. [6979.3s] Yeah. [6980.2s] Alternatively, a character could stick his head through to look around. [6983.7s] A spellcaster could even cast a spell through a ring gate. [6987.4s] Creatures of tiny, diminutive or fine size can pass through easily. [6991.2s] Each ring has an entry side and an exit side, [6994.0s] both marked with appropriate symbols. [6995.7s] Yes, I do remember in the mirror showing me that and being like. [6999.9s] Look in here in that episode, Thaddeus also picked up a wand of fear [7005.5s] and Flamikins Kins picked up three arrows of dragon slaying. [7009.1s] So just to keep in mind who keeps track of those [7015.3s] as characters come and go and. [7019.0s] You know what you might want to steal from them. [7020.8s] Noice. Noice. Noice. [7025.7s] So 18 inches, these are big rings. [7029.0s] Well, they're yeah, they're so Flamikins Kins could fit through them. [7032.6s] Yeah. Yeah, I have them kind of around me as I do my bow, I think. [7038.1s] So you're going through, but coming through them. [7041.0s] You can't put yourself through them. [7043.3s] Thanks. How do I hold them? [7045.6s] You put them in a bag. [7047.3s] It's like on your belt. [7048.8s] So you're just holding them on your belt, probably. [7050.9s] OK, yeah, until you find some other way to get by. [7053.7s] If you put your arm through them, it's coming through the other one. [7057.3s] Or coming out of the other one. [7059.3s] So like, it's like, how do you even hold on to them? [7062.5s] That's fucked up. [7064.3s] Let's not get into that. [7065.9s] Let's say you can hold on to the fucking ring. [7067.7s] Well, yeah, they're on your belt, we'll say. [7070.0s] OK, so yeah, we did all level ups. [7072.5s] We did items, we did spells. [7075.6s] The last thing we wanted to touch on was just kind of the goals [7078.7s] that you've hit to this point and where we should pick up next, [7082.6s] because we're not going to get to playing tonight. [7085.7s] Obviously, it is. [7087.9s] So you guys have [7090.0s] we can talk about, you know, kind of the goals you've got to since the last [7093.6s] council session, because you guys are more than likely heading back [7098.2s] to council, I assume. [7099.6s] Well, to tell them about how the drag meeting went, [7101.9s] even though it doesn't turn. [7103.0s] It turns out they don't fucking care. [7105.6s] Well, no, they do care. [7106.8s] And they want you to do. [7108.1s] I know I just am a little bit. [7109.8s] They have some demands. [7111.3s] They want you to do a bunch of shit for them in order to care. [7114.2s] No, no, not the dragons, the council. [7116.6s] They've been dicks like you guys fly under the radar, do your own thing. [7119.8s] We can't support you. [7120.7s] No, OK, stop. [7122.5s] That's not the that's not the council. [7126.3s] OK, stop there, because you've got two separate things you're dealing with. [7129.4s] Now, you've got the council who are the people in Waterdeep, [7132.1s] and then you've got the Guild of the Nine Shadows. [7133.9s] Oh, right. The guild is wanting us to be on the down low. [7137.2s] They don't want to publicly fund or support anybody there. [7140.8s] OK, right. OK. [7141.8s] So you're not going back to the guild. [7143.0s] You're going back to the council. [7144.0s] Yes. Right. [7145.0s] Who sent you to the Misty Forest and to the Dragon Council meeting. [7149.4s] The guild has no say what's happening. [7152.3s] And they've let's just pretend they don't even exist. [7156.4s] Yeah. So we need to return to the council and report on [7160.6s] on dragon assistance and tell them, hey, because as of right now, [7165.8s] you is story wise, have no other real leads. [7170.3s] Well, we we kind of need to go and get this shit done for the. [7174.4s] Dragons, I need to go up to Silvery Moon to get a formal apology for. [7178.3s] OK, go back to the council because Lady [7180.9s] Illustrile is like they might be able to take care of it. [7183.5s] She's the she's the high queen of silver. [7185.3s] Oh, OK. Well, yeah. [7186.8s] Yeah. Yeah. [7187.6s] In theory, we should be able to go back and say, like, they're going to help, [7190.7s] but these are their demands. [7191.8s] Everybody you need to talk to is going to be at the council [7195.2s] in one way, shape or form. OK, good. [7197.4s] Or some representative of. [7200.2s] So I'm looking like back to our notes, [7202.2s] and this is from holy shit so long ago. [7205.7s] My December 29th. [7209.7s] Twenty sixteen. Oh, God. [7211.7s] OK, twenty sixteen. [7213.3s] Oh, you're going back to old, old stuff. [7215.6s] Well, this was my our last. [7217.4s] Is that right? No, because it's got to be twenty. [7219.0s] Like this is our last tasks. [7220.8s] But listen, guys, we did all this stuff. [7222.7s] Listen to these things that were on our task list. [7225.2s] Wrap things up with McAuth. [7226.8s] We did that. Excellent. [7228.3s] It were speaker of around the white is in the Serpent Hills. [7231.7s] Caught that bad. [7232.8s] Made a look at Flint naked. [7235.0s] Naren Vane is in the Misty Forest. [7237.0s] Down that son of a bitch. [7238.4s] We we just did that. [7241.3s] Free Little Rock. We did that first. [7242.8s] We did. Yeah. [7245.5s] That was a scary episode. Yeah. [7247.9s] Yeah. [7249.1s] So I just wanted to let you guys know we have accomplished [7251.4s] a lot of things that we were supposed to. [7253.4s] That makes me feel a lot better. [7254.9s] He did it. Yeah. [7256.0s] Like there was a to do list and we did it. [7260.8s] We we did it. [7262.4s] And we did it. Yeah. [7264.7s] OK. That being said, I will go back to the council. [7268.2s] Anybody else know anything else we have on our list? [7271.1s] Because I don't think we do. [7273.1s] Like I think I think we'll talk to the council. [7276.0s] Fixing Flint's double situation on the list. [7280.8s] But yeah, that hasn't. [7282.6s] Yeah, that hasn't come up between characters yet, though. [7285.4s] No, you've only told Flannigan's. Yeah. [7288.4s] I start to unbutton my shirt. [7290.6s] What the fuck is going on here? [7293.6s] Thea has a doppelganger because of. [7296.0s] Yes. Crazy worlds and because of Ty. [7299.2s] Yeah, I mean, it wasn't because of Ty, [7301.5s] but it was a good tie in to actually introduce it. [7305.0s] Ty in. [7306.7s] Ha. [7309.4s] Yeah, I like this, like, PS, there are parallel worlds [7311.9s] and there's a version of each of us in each world. [7314.2s] No big deal. But we can't talk about this now. [7317.0s] Yeah, we can't. We'll grab a bean bag later and hash this out. [7320.9s] Totally. Thank you, everybody, for listening to this. [7323.4s] Whatever this was. Right. [7326.0s] Please send your tips and information for us. [7329.2s] We wanted really we wanted to just kind of remember for ourselves, [7332.9s] but also know that we we do care about mechanics and stuff. [7336.4s] So we try to care about. [7337.9s] We try. We do try our best. [7339.8s] We legitimately do. [7341.3s] And there's things we've never explained that we've just had [7344.0s] before we started playing. [7345.0s] So it's probably helpful to actually say like, oh, [7347.4s] I've had this thing the whole time. [7348.5s] That's why this happens. [7351.2s] Yeah. So thank you for listening. [7353.4s] Next week will be or next next week will be Carla's episode [7357.0s] for Women in Tabletop Gaming Month. [7358.7s] And then the week after that will be a regular episode [7361.5s] where we'll have a guest star on as well. [7365.7s] And we'll actually like roll dice and stuff. [7368.0s] Maybe. Yeah, we better. [7370.6s] There'll be some dice rolling. [7371.6s] There'll be some dice rolling. [7372.4s] I feel like I haven't rolled dice in forever, which I mean, [7374.6s] it's really a bad thing for me. [7376.7s] So thank you, everybody. Bye. [7378.8s] Yes, thank you. Bye. [7380.0s] Ending things. Bye. Bye. [7405.4s] Lululeven. Lulululeven. Lululeven. [7410.1s] How'd this turkey get in here? [7416.0s] Cereal week. [7417.5s] Oh, shit. How do I? What the fuck? [7421.5s] What are you trying to do? [7424.4s] That's pretty much our podcast in one line. [7427.4s] Oh, shit, what the fuck? How do I? [7429.8s] Yeah, that should be our tagline. [7431.6s] There we go. OK. [7432.8s] Did you want to go get a beer? [7434.8s] Did you want to go get me? [7436.8s] I will go get you a beer. [7438.8s] Your beer tastes yucky. [7440.8s] Your beer tastes yucky. [7442.8s] Did you drink my beer? [7444.8s] Is that why my beer is empty? [7446.8s] No, I had a sip and I don't know if someone was looking at me. [7450.8s] Russ, you're the reason your beer is empty. [7452.8s] It's pretty standard pale ale. [7454.8s] Yours is a steam brewed YVR session IPA though, so it's much better. [7462.8s] Oh, fancy girl. [7464.8s] I'm a fancy girl. [7466.8s] You don't want one of these then? [7468.8s] No. [7470.8s] Says the guy who was drinking a Pamplemousse Perrier. [7472.8s] And I'm the fancy girl, Tom? [7474.8s] Okay. [7476.8s] Tom's pretty fancy. [7478.8s] Hashtag fancy boy. [7480.8s] This is going to be hilarious when you pick the same spell to put back in there that you got rid of. [7484.8s] Is it Ice Storm? Wall of Fire? No. Dominate Bees? No. [7490.8s] Dominate Bees? [7492.8s] Bees, just Bees specifically. [7494.8s] Bees, you are mine! [7496.8s] Bees do as I say. [7498.8s] Be kind of incredible. [7500.8s] Right? [7502.8s] Who's your queen now, Bees? [7504.8s] I want to fucking use that on myself. [7506.8s] I don't know. [7508.8s] Doesn't matter anymore, you don't have it. [7510.8s] It's gone. [7512.8s] It's going to bug me. [7514.8s] Clean slate! All new spells! [7516.8s] Yay! [7520.8s] Why are you trying to hurt me? [7522.8s] Slowly her spells disappear as she forgets everything druid. [7526.8s] Oh, that's a good... [7528.8s] No, it's not. [7530.8s] Oh, here we go. [7532.8s] I like it. [7534.8s] Yeah, the Rod of Lordly Might information only has buttons 1, 2, 4 on it as far as the piece of paper that I have. [7542.8s] So I don't know if there was more pieces that I didn't attach to the book, but I don't know why I just would have only stuck the one on it. [7548.8s] I apologize if I did not give you all of them. [7552.8s] It is split over two pages, so there should have been another page, but I don't know. [7558.8s] Yeah, that's all I have. [7560.8s] In fact, three years, the dastardly things I would have given you, this magic item that wouldn't have told you what the whole thing did. [7566.8s] Well, you probably did, and they probably fell out in my car, and then I was like, what's this hunk of junk? [7572.8s] Drain life? Who needs that? [7574.8s] May I continue? [7576.8s] Yeah, of course. [7578.8s] We already spent enough time talking about Thomstead. [7580.8s] Let's just continue. [7582.8s] Dumbgeons & Dragons is a Dumb Dragons production.
